  1. Hmm...You sure on that? I'm assuming you are referring to deck 7. Yes, deck 7 exists on the joy....but it doesn't look like there is a walking track or anything there ( in fact, the "official" walking track is up by the pool area...which sucks ). In fact, from what I have heard, deck 7 looks much worse than deck 8 for walking, etc... I'll admit, I haven't seen it firsthand though...so we will have to find out ourselves.
  2. Ok...I have a wifi related question from an idiot who hasn't cruised for a while ( me ). First of all, how do you sign into their "paid" wifi ( Free at sea minutes and unlimited plans )? I'm assuming you just connect to the wifi and "log in" somehow with a username and password? BTW - we have iphones... Second, we have a mini "wifi hotspot". Does anyone use these while in the room to connect to a single "unlimited" plan with multiple devices? In theory this should work...but I seem to remember having issues with the login process on the hotspot in the past ( i.e. - it didn't go to the "login" page after connecting the hotspot to the ship's wifi ). That was quite a while ago though... Thanks in advance!
  3. We have a son and a daughter...and I concur. Teenage daughters can be a tough deal for parents...haha.
  4. We have always liked the "promenade" deck on many ships where the walking/jogging track is. Even on the RCL super mega humongous ships, this deck has been relatively free of people pretty much all day ( because there isn't anything there...except walking ). NCL realized this and "did something" with their promenade deck ( deck 8 ). For instance, the Joy has bars and restaurants at that level now. Cool idea...but it won't be the same as what we are used to....and it doesn't go all the way around the ship. I have another thread on this topic...long story short, we will still use deck 8 as our walking track...but it will have more people than we are used to.
  5. I thought this was a joke when I first read the topic title...Honestly, very weird.
  6. Wow...Titos neat eh? That's some dedication! It is good stuff though....👍
  7. Cool that they appear to have some good IPAs on board. Was the 90 minute IPA on tap? Does Delaware/MD have a good brewery scene? Our daughter went to the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and then worked there for a year. Minneapolis has a ridiculously good local brewery scene. I swear there is a brewery every few blocks...tons of variety. 👍 She could walk to about 4 or 5 of them from her place. She is in North Carolina now and the breweries are not nearly as good in her area ( Chapel hill )....BUT they do have the https://theraleighbeergarden.com/ nearby. That place is amazing.
  8. Good to know. However, I'm always too cheap to pull the trigger on the Haven...lol.
  9. I think we will mostly stick to the "specialty" bars for a properly made drink ( Sugarcane Mojito bar, District Brewhouse, Maltings Whiskey bar, Cellars, etc... ) We have never had great luck at the "general" bars onboard cruise ships...unless the drinks are very simple. 👍 With that said, I have heard good things about the Cavern bar.
  10. My wife's go-to drink is a Tanqueray Tonic. We were worried that Tanqueray wasn't going to be included in the basic FAS package....but it appears that it is! Woo hoo! 😁
  11. because everyone has to get the "last word"...just like any internet "debate". 🤣
  12. Thanks for the feedback! It looks like deck 8 is our best option. However, one thing I loved about the promenade deck on other ships is the fact that it is relatively empty....even on humongous ships like the huge RCL ships. For instance, the Oasis class RCL ships have an awesome running/walking track on deck 5...and are always amazingly free of people.
  13. I agree. However, we were on a few cruises pre-pandemic and I can't remember *any* of them where people were happy...and because of that many were just ticked off, not listening, and thinking more about getting the heck out of there than paying attention. Getting the attention of passengers has *always* been an issue...and I personally believe that a much happier experience will make people pay attention better. And the e-muster accomplishes that. 👍
  14. Hi all, On just about every other ship we have peen on in the past, there has been a walking track on one of the mid decks that is "covered" and goes all the way around the ship. Walking around the ship this way has always been a fun activity and you can still walk while it is raining, etc... However, I was a bit disappointed to see that the Joy doesn't have this feature. Yes, I do realize that deck 17 has a "jogging track"...but that is out in the open, isn't covered, and is in the midst of the pool area hordes. I was looking at the deck plans and it seems like deck 8 *may* be feasible as an alternative. However, it does appear to be cut off by the front of the ship where Food Republic and the The District Brewhouse are. I'm thinking I can walk and then cut through that area to the other side ( and just maybe pick up a drink at the brewhouse on the way...haha 😁 ). Has anyone else used deck 8 as a "walking track"? If so, how was it? Thanks in advance! 👍
  15. I the Cave bar the one that also has an "outdoor" section on the promenade?
  16. I'm also looking forward to the District Brew House...I have never been on a ship with a proper draft beer selection. Oddly enough, we are also looking forward to the Local. We have never been on a ship with a *sit down* restaurant that is complementary and open late. From an old school cruiser who has not been on a cruise for a while, I think some people forget how cool the Local really is. I was never a fan of the late night buffets on ships we have been on in the past.
  17. Yikes...not the best response from NCL. I'd be pissed as well. Just what I want on a cruise...breathing in toxic black soot. Who knows what the heck is in that stuff. So they didn't offer you *anything* to make it right?!
  18. Why yes...yes he is. Sure...go ahead and declare the "emergency is over". Denial is still there. There is much more at play here than public safety... Also convenient that a very interesting recent thread documenting many *very recent* CC'er cases of covid seems to have disappeared. Things that make you go Hmm.....
  19. If you believe the posts around here, there is a lot more than "one issue" with NCL lately. 🤣
  20. Strange...there was another covid related topic that had some interesting discussions going on....and it seems to have disappeared. Lots of people in that thread reporting *recent* covid cases that they picked up on their cruises. Be careful out there...
  21. Per the video above...NOT a good look for NCL to have such a poor muster during a vloggers cruise. Wow...I didn't realize that at first. 🤣🤣
  22. Yes....unfortunately, it seems like the "strategy" is to delay getting to the muster station as long as possible....sigh. However, they certainly are not creating an environment where people WANT to show up early or on time. 🙄
  23. Holy frack...this looks freaking horrible. NCL is obviously complete an utter denial about covid ( and other viruses ) spreading on their ships. Honestly...people packed in shoulder to shoulder...what the F. 👎
  24. Not to be the idiot here...but are we not already paying for gratuities? I wonder how many on a cruise actually tip more than that...I'd bet very, very few. Do those who cash tip opt out of the prepaid grats? Good on you guys who do direct tip though, I guess... 👍
  25. https://www.portsamerica.com/operations/cruise-los-angeles-terminal-schedule We are on the Feb 12th sailing..which is at one of the good ones ( B92 ) and in fact looks like the only ship in port that day. The Feb 19th sailing is also out of berth B92. However, looks like the Feb. 24th sailing is in berth B50...which is in the outer harbor...and is the same berth that folks have reported issues with int the past ( people are bussed over there ).
