  1. We eat all our meals in the WJ and have never had any issues. The one time we ordered room service it was cold. I say if people are unhappy with RCCL they should just leave and go elsewhere.

So, because the OP isn't impressed with the Windjammer and YOU'VE never had a problem - they should switch cruise lines. REALLY! Thanks for the chuckle.

I am the least fussy person out there, foodwise. Yes, the food at the Windjammer was not terribly impressive, but it filled the hole. I do really like the Park Cafe though. I have never though to put tuna and egg salad together - loved it.

  2. Oooops, my bad...

I'm afraid that hubby and I are part of the "crazy crew" who enjoy the Enchantment's evening party atmosphere. We aren't ridiculous with it (we're TOO old now for that), but we do like to dance and have a good time on the pool deck, especially if it's a warm evening. Guess that explains why I don't hear the noises from the deck...I'm part of the problem!!!

Nothing wrong with that. I did a bit of partying in my younger days as well. It's more realizing the best location for you - based on your habits. I'm not a late night person. I'm the one having coffee on the pool deck at 5:30 in the morning. So for me, staying directly under the pool deck won't happen again.

  3. Robrud-

I never heard as much as a peep from the pool deck, in fact I haven't read any reviews that mentioned pool deck noises. You would think that you'd hear SOMETHING in the deck 8 cabins from up above, but not for me and my hubby. I can't speak for others who were on the same floor as we.

Then you were really lucky. I was in a JS on Enchantment - 8066. First night not too bad. Second night, kept awake by the sail away party. Third night kept wake by rolling carts and scraping of deck chairs - pretty much all night long. NEVER AGAIN.

My first cruise on Enchantment I was in an outside stateroom - 2054. Slept like a baby.

  4. I can't speak for Oasis, but if they are set up the same, on Enchantment I could only buy a single pack in the casino - not from the duty free shops. And they had a VERY limited selection. I like the Marlboro Ultra Light 100's (also called Silver) and they didn't have those - all they had were Lights - short.

Personally, I'd rather pay more and get the ones I like to smoke :)

  5. Aaahh, a smoker FINALLY agreeing that cigarette smoke is "nasty and foul smelling"! :) All the other smokers laugh about the n0n-smokers "acting" like it bothers them. It never occured to me that cigar smokers didn't like cigarette smoke, either! :D

Yes, and guess what - cigarette smokers often don't like the smell of cigars. What's your point? He thinks cigarettes are nasty. I think cigars are nasty. If I'm in a casino though and smell a cigar, I just move to a different location.

  6. It is my opinion that this is a glitch in the website "improvements". Clearly one person does not pay two sets of taxes and fees. Those are PER PERSON charges. It is simply not showing up properly on the website.

I think you may be right. I called on my free M Life cruise yesterday (you just pay taxes and gratuities) and she quoted me $150 for taxes and I told her it was just going to be me and she recalculated them and it was $75.

  7. I haven't read any of the responses - read enough of the previous threads so I really didn't need to. My opinion is that it won't affect much. I will still cruise with Royal, but I won't bother to spend the extra money to get a balcony if I can't smoke on it. Not that big of a deal. I actually enjoy going up on deck first thing in morning to have coffee and a few cigarettes.

It should be interesting to see what actually happens once you can't smoke on your balconies anymore and all of those people are now up on the deck smoking :) My guess is that won't be too popular either.

  8. Thanks Daghis,

I actually paid 4000.00 CDN as it shows on my Canadian Visa statement, But Was actually billed for 3800.00 USD for 5 of us in two connecting Inside Cabins including Gratuity and Taxes. So They did give me some sort of MLife discount here.

As I am Platinum on Mlife and it will bring me to Diamond Plus on Crown n anchor ?, So on my next cruise I will be able to visit Concierge and Diamond lounges but on this cruise as its my first one with RCI

Platinum on M Life brings you to Gold - not Diamond Plus. As far as to whether you got a discount - the last communication I had was that this year's program had to be booked by September 30, and need to sail by the end of the year - and was either a 3 night cruise - or a $600 towards any cruise. Next year's program hasn't been determined yet.

  9. Just wondering - regarding the partnering with MLife - do you use your MLife card in the casino now?

No - you use your Sea Pass card as your player's card. Although make sure you bring your M Life card with. They didn't ask for it on my free cruise, but did on my next one (where I was denied my benefits). Although I didn't have one with my new expiration date anyway. The most recent one I had expired in September of 2013. I will get a new one next month.

  10. Called Casino Royale number and because I am getting a balcony discount on my next cruise I was not entitled to any of the reciprocal MLife benefits. Confirmed by Crown and Anchor that MLife benefits are not combinable. Anyone else have this happen?

Yes, this was only my second cruise, but I had to choose between my RC benefits (a $25 certificate) or my M Life perks - I chose the M Life perks. What made it really bad was once I got on board, I was denied those perks. My host was very sorry, but her boss looked at the list of M Life players and by my name it said "Benefits Only - No Comp". I took this to mean it wasn't a comp cruise (as I had already taken that), but I should still get the M Life benefits. He took it to mean I shouldn't get anything.

When I called RC, the woman was very apologetic and frustrated - saying a quick call to them would have confirmed that I am a platinum M Life member - entitled to the benefits. They offered me $25 on my "next" cruise. I said I wanted a credit issued - as the $25 was for the cruise I just took - not my next one. Still waiting for an answer.

  11. Ship - Enchantment of the Seas

    Deck - 8

    Stateroom # - 8066

    Stateroom Category – JS

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – no. 2nd night they had the Nassau sail away party and I could hear it very clearly in my stateroom with the balcony closed. 3rd night they were cleaning the deck and could hear constant scraping of deck chairs and carts being rolled back and forth.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - no

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – nice balcony - no obstructions.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal.

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? -

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No

    Any other comments? -

  12. Really? I have not used either or benefits (just did my first cruise and booked my first trip to Vegas at the MGM) but you should have benefits even as gold C&A. They are not like to die for benefits but I guess its better than nothing. I think the person you talked to was just lazy :p

Well, that's what I was told - that I could use the $25 certificate - OR - the M Life benefits, free drinks, free specialty dinner, etc. I figured 10 free drinks was worth far more than $25. I was also told I wasn't eligible for the casino rebate as my first cruise was free. I earned over 2,000 points and was invited to be a member of the players club. Maybe I'll confirm that with my host when I get on board.

  13. I have a question about your m life cruise how did the free drink vouchers work? Were they on your card or vouchers? :)

They are actually a row of stickers. When I got to my stateroom, there was a letter asking me to stop by to meet my host in the casino after the muster drill. There she gave us our stickers, arranged our dinner at Chops, and put a sticker on our sea pass so the 5% cash advance fee was waived.

I actually have 3 stickers left and am wondering if I can use them on my next cruise. I had my non-gambling, non-drinking, sister with me on my last cruise so I didn't spend as much time in the casino as I would have without her.

  14. Just a few comments. I'm coming from the other end - Platinum M Life who took her first cruise as it was free.

Don't depend on that gold "upgrade". It's pretty rare - they always seem to be unavailable. I don't speak from personal experience, but from what I hear on the Las Vegas forums I participate on.

When booking a cruise, you have to choose between your RC benefits - or your M Life benefits - you can't use both. I am going on my next cruise in a few weeks. I had a $25 certificate available to me through RC, but I couldn't use it as I chose to use my M Life benefits instead.

  15. No, but then I carry my small travel purse with me - which is another newbie dead give-away from what I've read. That's not likely to change as I go from a newbie to an experienced cruiser. I like my "stuff" with me.

I did wear a waterproof wallet around my neck on CocoCay. Unfortunately, with the RC safe's the way they are - you have to keep a credit card out to be able to use the safe - and I wasn't comfortable leaving that sitting in my beach bag when I'm in the water. So I kept my credit card, sea pass, and a bit of cash in my wallet with me all the time.

  16. Hi. I will be taking my first solo cruise in October. I went on my first cruise in July which was supposed to be solo until my sister invited herself along :)

I am 50. My BF has no interest in cruising. I do go to Vegas a few times a year, and about half of those trips for me are solo, as he doesn't like to go as much.

I love solo traveling. I'm perfectly happy with my own company. But the nice thing about a cruise is everyone is SO friendly that it's easy to have a nice conversation with someone.

I just splurged and upgrade to a Junior Suite. I had been on the waiting list for a balcony but the final payment date came and went, and nothing opened up. So for a few $100's more than that would have been, I just did it. I'm very excited and looking forward to my October cruise!

  17. Wow, it looks like people either love them or hate them. I have decided to upgrade to a JS on my upcoming Enchantment cruise (couldn't do it today as I booked through the casino). The 2 cabins I was considering were 7166 - different thread mentioned the large balcony - and 8066. If 8066 is available, I think I'll go with that one. Don't want to find out the hard way that I don't like an aft cabin :)
