  1. Lloyd - the idea that this is the superior grand suite is purely speculation on my part. We have one of these already booked for 2015 - LONG wait. However, there is no floor plan shown on deck plans of Quantum as other cabins have. I know the grand suites in the past had 2 sliding glass doors - hope this one does. I am guessing that this large circular port hole type window is on the other wall of the superior grand suite. Since our deposit is already paid, I wish they would soon show a floor plan so we know what we are getting. I am sure it will be a terrific cabin - just impatient. Thanks for verifying you think this is suite 6234. Hope we get more views of that area later. What I also said was that it looked like the balcony glass railing looked very high on the one angle of the cabin. Maybe it just looked high from that angle. Time will tell - thanks for all your postings and pics. Keep them coming - much appreciated.

I think the large circular porthole type window is on the same side of large balcony of the Family Connected Junior Suite.

  2. ... and André, who wants us to go out on a limb and propose that the QofS is facing in the same direction as the Getaway.

Sherlock Holmes may have said: "...when you have excluded the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth", but he also said "...check out the new photos with the yellow squares again" ...

Lloyd - Now I can see what you were talking about here "check out the new photos with the yellow squares" using my iPhone. Makes sense and great catch by both of you again. I see you picked a great cabin already 6234 :)

  3. Looking at the deck plans - the grand suite usually has 2 sliding glass doors on the one wall of the cabin (one bedroom area, one living room area) - it looks as though there is a large porthole on side of one wall besides the 2 sliding doors (can't see sliding glass doors on the pic, but can see large circular window)

Those glass railings look extremelyhigh?? or maybe just the angle viewed

All speculation here - any other thoughts?

Which picture are you referring to when you say "Those glass railings look extremelyhigh"?

Edit - I now see the picture using my iPhone. For some reason I cannot see the second picture Lloyd posted above on my PC.

And good catch on the large porthole suites.

Indeed, thank you to Andre for all his input and hard work. You guys both have definately kept things interesting here.

I am also almost leaning in the same direction with Andrea that QOTS is facing in the same direction as Getaway. This is assuming that the engines are indeed towards the Aft to Mid section and the first blocks we saw during keel laying. Then I look at the attched image of Celebrity Reflection and then Hmmmm! Do you think they have that much room in the MW turing basin (that I referred to as "lake" above) to rotate QOTS with an extra 79ft longer than Breakway. Either way it wil be interesting to see sometime in the Fall of next year.

From Meyer Werft website below. Celebrity Reflections in the back with Disney Fantasy nearest to the Hall 6 floatout gate.

  5. Here is a question about the Quantum build. Which way is she facing? Can we assuming the bow will be facing the front of Hall 6? Looking at the last few builds in Hall 6, Breakaway and now Getaway both ships had/have the bow facing the front float out gate of Hall 6. You will recall that when Breakaway was floated out, she was taken to almost the end of the MW "lake" and then rotated. It was a tight fit looking at video. Looking back at other builds at MW, Celebrity Reflections and the last Disney ship were both floated out with stern first. Quantum is about 79 feet longer than both Breakaway class ships. What do you think?

  6. VegasChic- Great review and fantastic pictures. Too bad you could not spend more time at the Falmouth pier. It has grown a lot since our first visit there which was Allure OTS very first visit to Falmouth. There was music, drumming, dancing and singing by the locals, it was really cool. I think I like the Western Caribbean sailings thus far.

Thanks for sharing your story and pictures. You also have a beautiful family.

  7. Looking at some photos on Flickr belonging to my nephew, and just before I leave the site I thought I’d search for a favorite topic in this forum.

Sigh. Lucky to find some photos taken October 9 in halls 5 & 6 at Meyer Werft:

Here’s a sample of the photos. They show the area behind the Norwegian Getaway that we see in the photo that Tall-Cruiser gave us a link to in post #296, and that I zoomed into in post #299.

There’s some great photos of the artwork on the Getaway as well.

I wonder which of the blocks that we see in hall 5 belong to the Quantum of the Seas? This look like the roof of the SeaPlex? :

  8. I just received a second email and shortly after a lady called. She was very nice and pleasant and wanted to make sure I received the emails and thanked me for our loyalty to RCI.

Below is part of the new email.

    ----------------------

Thank you for contacting the executive offices of Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd. Your correspondence to Mr. Goldstein was forwarded to my attention upon review, and I welcome this opportunity to respond on his behalf.

I am sending this response as I was unable to reach you via telephone earlier as planned. We appreciate your comments regarding the amenities associated with the cabana rentals in Labadee and apologize for your displeasure with the lack of response conveyed.

Please understand the upgraded barbeque buffet, offered on Barefoot Beach, one of Labadee’s beaches exclusively reserved to suite guests, was also made available to cabana guests from other Labadee beaches, and generated unexpected crowding as a result. In order to maintain a premium beach experience, Royal Caribbean will start enforcing the exclusive access of Barefoot Beach to top suite guests only.

Please note that guests who have purchased a private cabana on Nellie’s Beach will still have exclusive use of their cabana for the day. Other cabana amenities include a built-in ceiling fan, luxury resort-style lounge chairs, two floating mats, beach towels, a water cooler with six bottles of water and a personal cabana attendant. Guests in these cabanas are invited to join the beach barbeque buffet at Columbus Cove Café, Dragon’s Café and Café Labadee. Guests who have already purchased private cabanas at Nellie’s Beach prior to October 4, 2013 will still be able to access Barefoot Beach’s upgraded beach barbeque buffet.

We have identified all the guests who will be granted access to the upgraded barbeque buffet on Barefoot beach, will notify all the pertinent ships for each voyage and wristbands will be distributed to the guests onboard.

We truly hope our guests will enjoy a memorable day during their call at Labadee, one of Royal Caribbean’s highest-rated Caribbean destinations and private beach paradise located on the northern coast of Haiti. The destination features five beaches, a Haitian artisan market, an extensive array of watersports options, as well as exciting attractions such as the 2,600-foot Dragon’s Breath Flight Line, the world’s longest zip line over water, the 300-foot Dragon’s Splash Waterslide, and the Dragon’s Tail Alpine Coaster.

  10. On or about 1:15Pm Eastern I received a voicemail from a lady at RCI executive office referencing my email to Adam Goldstein about the Nellie’s Beach Cabana I reserved. Thanks for sharing. still take the email with you on your sailing.

  13. The rectangle area/decks below the half circle is not one full rectangle. If you look closely, there is an open space/gap on the other side of the half circle. Any time I see blocks with a gap, i think they may be part of decks with an open space down the middle of the ship that will be above the promenade/Esplanade/Centrum/ The block in question may be at one end of this gap.

    Specullation is fun! :D

I was thinking it could be the open space to the H20 Zone. If you look at the deck plans the very front of the SeaPlex area (deck 16) faces the H2O Zone (deck 14) and its a semi-circle on deck 16. Just a thought.

  14. Good catch. There is at least the painting of exteriror walls and installion of balconies. Nice to be able to see the progress. And somewhere behind that is the keel and engines. Wonder what's happening there?

We can see what's happening in this recent photo of a view of the blocks on the deck that we don't get to see often. Time to play "Where on the ship does that block fit?". The block with hte semi-circle section atop of it ...?

Ok block with semi-circle, I looked at the deck plans and several images and will make a few guesses. It could be the area right in front of the SeaPlex that has no windows and has a walk path of some sort. It is facing the pool deck area. Or it could be a block froward, Vitality Spa / Solarium area.

I think the keel and engines are now under those blocks/decks that you see in the picture. They are no longer in the daylight. The fact that they never show the rear webcam we cannot see how much they have done already. You can begin to see some balconies and the supports. Maybe someone can make this picture bigger.

  16. I think you're right. There are balcony door holes AND balcony supports too. Definetly not part of the Sonne ship. Good catch.

Edit: I may have found the company that is suppplying the toilets for the QofS. I am 'flushed' with excitement... badoomboomp!

Checkout this image from the building of Getaway. Try to zoom in behind Getaway and you will see a lot has been done on Quantum that we have no seen yet.

  17. Your welcome.

Only trying to figure it out like the rest of you folks.

I am definately taking all info I have on this matter with me on our cruise.

I will be one of the first people off the ship to try and get what I want.

I am hoping, those that cruise before me will come back and tell us thier experience on Labadee.

BTW I used this e-mail to get my response.

    Agoldstein@rccl.com

No one from shorex@RCCL.com has ever responded to my e-mails.

Thanks Dan. I will forward my email to the email address you noted and hopefully I will get an answer.
