  1. You have to book those separate. No problem. You can buy those online too. If you already purchased the underground, just make a second transaction for the admission tickets for entrance

  2. I noticed that when you chose the first option there was no availability for any date. But they had plenty of available times if you chose the guided tour in English option. I just booked mine a few minutes ago (7pm PST).

    Good luck!!

  3. I joined a private group along with my rollcall. Only 8 people on the van vs 48 with Princess.

Share a Shore Excursion is the name of the company.

We are also paying significantly less than with Princess (about half prince). The company is also making reservations for us at La Accademia which is nice.

  4. Thanks guys. I don't think there is anything she can do at this point. She leaves next week. Just hoping she has a good time.

I have never been to Europe but am excited to go in June. We will be on a cruise and even then, I know we won't be able to see everything we want so have picked one or two things at each port to explore. At least we get to sleep and relax on the ship while we make our way to the next stop. I had a feeling her itinerary was a bit aggressive to handle.

I'll try to pass some of your recommendations along. Hope they help.

  5. I have a friend who is leaving next week and booked a hotel in Milan. She is planning to travel by train to visit Venice, Vienna and Florence on different days. Each day, returning back to Milan in the evening.

Does this seem doable? I feel she would spend too much time traveling and not enough time sightseeing. She is going to be in Italy for 4 days only.

Any suggestions I can give her?

  6. I've researched this forum but cannot find anything current.

We would like to go to Portofino and Santa Margarita on our own. Any suggestions on how to get there via train/public transport from the Genoa Port?

Is it fairly easy to do or should we just book a private excursion?

Princess offers this excursion. Has anyone taken it? What were your thoughts. We have only done one other cruise excursion and felt rushed throughout the whole thing.

  7. Thank you,

My tentative itinerary is to get to Portofino around 11a. Tour the castle and explore the trails and take it all in. Shopping over there is to expensive for my blood, so we'll head over to St. Marguerite, walk around for souvenirs and then have lunch approximately 2p.

Catch the train around 330p and be back in port around 430p.

    Thanks again for responding.:)

Hi Cruzinbabe! I am doing some research and came across this post. How did your itinerary work out for you? We want to do something similar to you.

  8. I would really appreciate some advice on my current plan for our 1.5 days in Barcelona. We arrive at 4pm the day before our cruise sets sail.

That afternoon, I'm hoping to just walk to Plaza Catalunya area and get some dinner after check in. We are staying at Hotel Jazz which is located about 5 minutes from there. (Or should we go to Las Ramblas instead?)

In the morning (day of embarkation) we are hoping to visit la sagrada familia. I would like to do the audio tour for 9 or 10am. But I'm thinking we might not have time. Should we just DIY without audio/guided tour? Any advice on this?

We have to board the ship at 2pm but the latest boarding is for 5:30. Thinking we want to board a little later than 2pm. That way it gives us more time to see La Sagrada Familia and walk around Las Ramblas before we head to the ship.

Does this sound do-able? I don't want to rush from place to place but these 3 stops are really important to me. I have never been to Barcelona.

  9. Hello -

We will be in Sicily in June. A friend told me about a Godfather Tour she did in Sicily. Would like to book this tour for DH and I.

Has anyone done this tour and with who? Friend didnt remember who she booked with.

Also, how long is the tour? We will be docked there for 7 hours only. Want to make sure we have enough time.

  10. Thought I would post this again since my original post didnt include a better title.

We are staying at London House Hotel in Bayswater Central West London.

What is the easiest way to get there from Heathrow Airport? This is our first time to London and are not familiar with the metro/underground system.

We plan to go to Buckingham Palace and all the tourist sites in the area. Will is be easy to get to from where we are staying? Which would be the easiest way to get there?

  12. I was hoping someone could recommend a specific apartment via VRBO or any other reputable apartment renter website.

We are a married couple looking to stay in Rome for 4 nights.

Looking to stay in the Pantheon, Navona, Campo di Fioro area.

DH has a bad back, so bed comfort is a must! Preferably no higher than 2 floors. Too many stairs would make for a grumpy DH.

Another must have is AC unit as we will be there during the summer months.

Anything else is a plus! :)

If you've stayed anywhere recently that meets this criteria, please let us know. Also, who you booked it through.

I've been on the site, but they all seem to have such good reviews. Seems too good to be true. They can't all be perfect! right?

  13. Since then we have been renting apartments….. if you are staying 3 nights or more it makes good sense. You not only have a lot more room - kitchen and living room, but it can save you a TON of money !!!!! Really.

    !!!

What website do you use to find apartments for rent? We are staying in Rome for night in June and might be interested in going this route if it is cheaper.

Could you make some suggestions on areas of Rome to stay in that at central to most touristy spots and/or local transportation (train).

  14. Where were you flying from?

I believe the op was flying from The states- Texas.

Big difference in airfare vs flying from within Europe.

I'm flying from LAX (Los Angeles) to Barcelona and our return flight is London to LAX.

RT is about $1100 per person.

I know the carrier has had some bad press, but if the OP is like me and is willing to take a risk and hope for the best, then it's up to her/him. Even though they have had some issues, they also have had many more good flights than bad flights.

I was just trying to let them know there are more budget friendly airlines out there, even if they aren't the big popular names like British Air, etc.

  15. DH and I are planning to spend a few days in Rome post cruise and then heading to London for the remainder of our trip.

We will be staying somewhere city center and would like to take an early flight into London on a Tuesday morning so we arrive before 10am. Is this do-able as far as availability of transportation to the airport?

I found a flight that leaves around 7:50am from FCO but don't want to book it if we are going to have a hard time finding a taxi or other transportation to get us there that early. How long is the drive to the airport from City Center?

Also, not sure where we are staying at yet in London but would like to know if its better to fly into Heathrow or Gatwick? This might be a question for another board though.
