  1. Like i said in the other thread...

Princess mistake was sending the letter. Lots of us made a decision based on that promise. If we would have known things would change and they would go back on their word, our decision to stay would have been different. I appreciate Princess trying to do the right thing for everyone involved, but they gave us their word and are now going back on it. We now have 10 minutes (was told we have to make a decision by 3pm) to try to decide what to do and make alternative plans. DH is on the phone now with Princess. This is a very upsetting situation.

  3. Our friends are staying on board for the short trip. She said they could get off or stay on. Why would you get off? Is now a free vacation.

Free vacation with little to do. I'm already bored out of my mind! There's only so much trivia, bingo and food you can eat in 7 days. LOL

DH and I haven't decided what to do yet, but are giving serious thought to disembarking and doing a road trip to New Orleans and San Antonio.

  4. I'm on the Caribbean Princess. I'm having a hard time looking up things on my phone so thought I would just ask you all who are more knowledgeable. This is only my second cruise... Or not.

What happens when the cruise misses a port? Do they offer a credit back? Refund? What about if the entire cruise is cancelled? Would we get a credit back? Even for those that don't have insurance? Just wondering.

  5. Wow... thats a dissapointment. On our HAL cruise last year in June to Alaska, our Steward placed a towel animal on our bed EVERY SINGLE NIGHT! I loved coming back to our room to see what new creation he had left. This was really one of the highlights for me.

At least now I wont be dissapointed on our cruise next week now that I know. Havent even started the cruise yet and HAL is already winning by 1 point. HAL 1, Princess 0.

    Boo on no towel animals.

  6. Just out of curiosity... does anyone know why Princess marks some rooms (interior, balcony, suites, etc) as sold out one day and then a few days later it shows there is availability?

I've been monitoring our cruise which sails in a week and it seems in the last month interiors, oceanview and suites have gone from sold out to not sold out several times.

Just curious as to why they do this?

  7. We are heading to Passion Island. For those that have been, are there water sport rentals available? We would love to rent jet skies. Not sure they are available. What else is there to do other than snorkel and lounge on the beach and eat?

  8. All lovely little things are disappearing...the ship specific postcards, lovely shower amenities, etc. Thinking I may change my allegiance to HAL or Celebrity,

HAL also uses the Soap Dispensers. We had them on our last cruise to Alaska June 2013

  9. I read this on the Princess "Cruise Answer Book" just now... all the way at the botton :D

"Note: Dress Code is subject to change with the ship's itinerary. The above is a general guideline".

    Key Words:

    1. Subject to Change

    2. General Guideline (referring to the dress code)

They dont say how Princess will communicate this out to each ship/itinerary... But I'm assuming that if you were on one of those cruises where "casuals" strolled into the MDR... you were on one of them! :p

As for me, like I have said before, will confidently enjoy my cruise the casual way. ;)

  10. I'll dress up for formal night as will DH... But on other night expect to see me in my casual "It's MY vacation" wear. Those who would like to dress up, do so. Those who don't, don't. Why do people get so upset. I don't get it? I'm on the "younger" side of the spectrum. Late 20s/early 30s. Must be a generational thing. But I really enjoyed my first cruise. And look forward to my second cruise at the end of the month. I would hate something as petty as dress code to leave a sour taste in my mouth and deter me from cruising in the future. To each their own. Why not?

  11. I agree with you about this for Formal Nights only.

For the other nights however, I say let the people dress as they please! We are on a vacation! Shouldnt have to dress up if we dont want to or forced out of the dinning room for being in shorts or a t-shirt.

  12. I'm a newbie and was surely champagne suckered on our 1st cruise last year. hehe. I purchased a $2000 Alexander Chen and some other $250 painting after the adrenaline kicked in. It was a fun experience but not one I want to repeat.

I did get buyers remorse and quickly called Park West and asked to cancel my purchase once we got off the ship. I was charged a cancellation fee and that was the end of that.

DH had a good time giving me a hard time. He knew he wouldnt get in trouble for gambling on the ship after that move. Hahaha.

At the end of this month, we will be going on our 2nd cruise and THIS time I'm only going for the free champagne. No paddle for me!

  13. DH and I will be going to Passion Island and we have planned to go snorkeling and lounge at the beach/water.

Im concerned about HOW to safegaurd our personal belongings. We dont plan to bring much with us.

    1.towels

    2. backpack with sunscreen, snacks, water bottle

    3. camera to take pictures (waterproof)

    4. snorkeling gear (most likely in the backpack)

    5. cash and our ID... probably kept around my neck on a lanyard/sleeve thing

When we are out in the water... is it safe to leave your things out? We would leave our towels and maybe backpack. Planning to carry my camera with me. What about our snorkeling stuff?

Do they have lockers? It is safe to leave out?

  14. Thank you everyone for the info. I didn't realize the area surrounding the airport was "shady". Def good to know and now we will for sure book a hotel even if its only to spend a few hours in and get a long nap in. We are sailing out of Houston on the Caribbean Princess. Think it's Bayport?

  15. Yup! That's correct. We are arriving at 1am to Hobby airport the day of our cruise. Any suggestions on where to stay at?

Should we book a hotel near the airport? Near the port? Will shuttles to hotel even pick us up that late?

We had even considered just hanging out inside the airport till the princess shuttle could pick us up. Is that crazy?

Is there a hotel inside this airport? That would be nice.

  16. I love doing makeup.......what ship are you on? I'll do it for the fun of it! I promise when we're done you'll be spectacularly beautiful!!!!

Your so sweet! Thank you. Too bad we are on different ships. hehe. Hmm... maybe I can ask my roll call! :D

Thanks everyone! You have all been helpful with your suggestions!

  17. Thanks everyone! Think I'll try buying my own stuff and maybe then just going to the Spa Ladies and ask if they offer the service. If not, then I'll attempt to just do the basics which I'm ok with (blush, lipstick and mascara). I wont even try to do eye shadow. The whole "blending thing" with the brushes is not my thing. LOL

  18. I'll be on the Caribbean Princess in March. I know I can get my nails done on the ship, but do they have any make-up artist? I'm not good with that stuff and would like to get my makeup done if its a service offered. I haven't seen any info on this.

  19. We had booked Passion Island for Cozumel but just realized that it has a buffet vs Nachi Cocom which allows you to order a la carte.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is in regards to the food quality?

This might help us decide if we made the right choice or perhaps give us the opportunity to change.

Quality of Food and Snorkeling are two priorities we have established when deciding on where to go.

    Any feedback is appreciated!
