  1. I subscribed to your thread on the main RCI forum. I'm very curious to see how this all works out!

I recently got engaged (on an RCI cruise) but havent decided yet if I'm going to have a cruise wedding. It's either a cruise or Vegas and I'm leaning towards Vegas.

Please keep us updated on what happens!

I hope your day is still wonderful!!

  2. Easytiger - thanks for the heads up on that! I will definitely make sure to notice that the ENTIRE charge is credited regardless of the exchange rate!

NBSJcruiser - we were going to pay our accounts with cash! Unfortunately we didnt think ahead to see that everything on the ship was charged in USD, and the exchange rate onboard was atrocious!! So we just used our credit card since the bank would give us a better exchange and left all our cash in the safe!!

Reney - I'm in Australia, so unfortunately, that's not how it works here. I actually just checked my account today and the charge is STILL on there. I'll give it 10 days like the customer service guy told me and if I don't have a credit, I'll be calling back!!

  3. Good Morning everybody.

I just wanted to let you all know that the guy from customer service that I've been dealing with wrote me back this morning and this is what he said:

    Good morning,

    I apologise for the delay.

I have been in contact with the US office and they will refund the 4086.07 to your credit card used onboard. It seems their was some mix up with accounts and you may have been charged for somebody else's. The refund can take upto ten days to show in your account.

Again I apologise for the delay.

I want to thank everyone for their input and for letting me vent!

Just to let you know, when I called my credit card company (CBA) they opened an investigation disputing the charge, BUT they did not remove the charge from my card. I was still responsible for it until the outcome was otherwise. Since the charge took me over my credit limit, my minimum payment was the entire amount that was over my credit limit. So I had to pay a $1900 minimum payment to put my account back in the positive. Which hurt things for Christmas shopping, but oh well. There's always next year!

    Hopefully this doesnt happen again!!!!

I haven't emailed the customer service agent back, but do you think I should ask for compensation?

  4. Good Morning everybody.

I am going to reply to him and thank him and all that jazz, but I was wondering.... I know some people brought up compensation. How should I ask for it? haha I'm always really shy when it comes to stuff like that!!

Thanks again everyone for letting me let off some steam! I guess almost 4 weeks isnt toooooo long to wait.

  5. Hey Everybody!

Just checking in, I haven't heard anything back yet, but I'm used to that by now!

Hi Di!! Good to see you! I agree with you about the Guest Services desk leaving much to be desired. We only went up twice but both times we had a really hard time with language issues and there was lots of confusion.

I guess we'll see! I will keep you guys updated for sure!

  6. Jim - I hope it gets resolved soon too!

Maureen - I initially called the Australian customer service number, I may have to bite the bullet and stay up late to call the US number.

CB - The customer service agent working on my case and I have e-mailed each other several times, so I do have everything in writing. I called first and then he gave me his direct e-mail address and I've been corresponding since. Though I did call today and speak to him since it's been 3 weeks, which is why I got frustrated all over again and posted this thread. LOL

Margie - I know mistakes happens, and I know everything will get resolved. Having my credit card maxed out during Christmas and New Year's made our holidays VERY low key. haha My biggest complaint is that no one knows anything. They cant tell me what store made the charge, what was/were the item/s purchased, who made the charge, which seapass card the charge was made. No one knows anything, the guy from RCI even told me he was stumped.

setsail - I have 2 charges on my credit card. One is for the exact same amount on my summary and then I have a second charge for $4,086. My boyfriend and I checked the bill the night before we disembarked and everything was correct on it.

Clean1 and Big_G - Thanks for the contacts! I will email them and see if they can try and figure things out!!

  7. Hi Hugh!

It was a great cruise! I didn't mind that extra sea day to be honest because I was already tired from all the port days up to that point! :p

That charge doesn't come up on my seapass account at all. Everything on my print out was correct when we checked it the night before we disembarked.

RCI cant tell me where the purchase was made (which shop or what items) nobody seems to know where the charge came from. The guy handling my "case file" told me he's been liaising with the onboard financial controller and the corporate offices in America to find out where the charge is coming from.

  8. Hi again,

I got a print out of my seapass account the night before disembarkation and my boyfriend and I went through all the charges just to make sure everything was correct.

Everything was fine. We got off the ship on a Thursday but stayed in Sydney a few extra days. When we got home, I checked my account and was like

There were also lots of pending charges on my card (but I knew that was normal) and gave it a few days to see if it would drop off. A few days later, everything that was pending dropped off but there were 2 hard charges left on my card. 1 for the amount on my print out and the one for $4000

  9. When I called the bank to dispute the charge (which they are also investigating on their end) all they could say was that RCI charged two different amounts. They said it could take up to 45 days for the investigation to conclude.

I'm just grateful that I used a CC and not my debit card.

The customer service agent at RCI said, that the charge is for a purchase, but that they aren't sure what the purchase is! So they have the financial controller from on board the Rhapsody trying to figure it out.

  10. I'm just a bit frustrated, and was wondering if anyone has gone through something similar.

I disembarked off an RCI cruise 3 weeks ago and found out that they had overcharged my credit card by $4000! I've called and talked to customer service but between "trying to get in touch with the ship and the Christmas holidays, and contacting the main office in America" nothing has been done yet.

I'm usually a really patient person, and I've been polite and courteous, but it's been 3 weeks and $4000 isn't exactly chump change!

Ok vent over, thanks for reading.
