We booked a central park mid ship balcony,  it was substantially less expensive then an ocean facing one.  I googled some pictures of CP. My wife said the balcony looks like a great place to have her first 20 cups of coffee in the Morning after her daily 6am run 🏃‍♀️

We always book CP balcony. Can't beat the price. Boardwalk balconies are similarly priced but we don't book them because we think they are are probably noisier with all the kids and activities going on. (Never booked one so I could be wrong). The only noise we ever hear is sometimes during the day you can hear the band from the pool deck depending on where your room is. Not a big deal since we are rarely in the room during times when the band plays during the day.

Your suggestion for getting a balcony is extremely tempting. We are going to price it out ASAP. Never even crossed my mind about the possibility of being in an inside if we get quarantined 😷
Thank you, i knew signing up on CC was a good idea.

    TY

For what it's worth, Central Park and Boardwalk balconies are inexpensive and you can still get some fresh air

I think you may be waiting for a long time for everything to be lifted. Every vaccination currently under development is not going to eradicate this virus. It will be a lot similar to the flu vaccine than a cure vaccine. Protocols like wearing masks and social distancing will be around for a least a few more years, and especially on cruise ships to keep the CDC happy.

If having wearing a mask on board is around for a few more years for cruising, then it will be a few more years before I cruise.

I love cruising but I just can't see the enjoyment in it with a mask mandate on a ship... I guess we'd just have to find alternative vacation options. Also it's just to hard (impossible) to social distance on a ship (IMO)

Speak for yourself. Between various on line forums, I have become an expert as an epidemiologist. Medical School is so yesterday. I have Google and some of my closest anonymous internet friends. 🤪🤪

And I bet you stayed at the Holiday Inn last night! 😄😄

(Sorry about the reference to an old advertising campaign on TV but I couldn't help it)

Thank you.  I am a retired Army LTC so I only know the Navy pay grades and not the abbreviations.  Actually, I do know CPO.  That is the rank my father-in-law was in WW2.

    MCPO = E9

    CPO = E7

I think back in WW2 the highest enlisted paygrade was E7...

Does the rank insignia line up over the person?  Since the E9 insignia is on the left, was it earned by the person on the left?  Asking for a friend.

    LOL...

I had to look at our pic to verify....

It's the opposite. Perhaps I should fix it... 🙂

Sallie is the CPO and I'm the MCPO.

  7. To those of you that are thinking everything is doubled, I would suggest you get clarification from RCI.

As I said in an earlier post, when we cruised during Diamonds in December they doubled the points but it was only double the per night sailing, not double the "bonus" point for a suite. We only got 3 points per night, not 4,  in a suite.

    Just sayin......

You trust the CDC and scientists?  They have gone from masks don’t work to masks provide better protection then a vaccine.  Then they come up with a statement that says we never told anyone that masks protect the wearer after the CDC director said the mask will protect him more than the vaccine.

    Yep.

Now many experts are saying the lockdown has hurt more than the virus itself. Time will tell and as always, hindsight is 2020. Oops, I didn't mean that as a pun....

  9. Can anyone that has done a B2B northbound & southbound Alaska cruise comment on how they liked it? Did you mind seeing the same ports twice and did you do different shore excursions on the repeat ports?

We're looking at a B2B on Radiance. We did a 7-day cruise on Radiance from Seatle once and loved it. But it was only the inside passage.

    Thanks

I never cruised on RC before do they give you many TV channels?

Not a whole lot. Sometimes they'll have the same movie on several channels but in a different language.

    Channels include:

-Events coming up on the ship

-live video feed from the front of the ship

-videos of events that have already occurred during you cruise (IE: Love and Marriage game from the previous night)

-Shopping guides (advertising for ships store or shore shopping)

-old TV shows (they used to do this a lot years ago with shows like Ozzie & Harriet etc..)

-interactive guide to check your account

-movies on demand for a fee

    -Live sports events

Thank you 2chiefs. That’s exactly what I meant. Some on here just want to preach when they should be listening to the sermon.
IMO, a cruise would not be enjoyable for me wearing a mask the whole time.  And equally, a lot of the enjoyment is interacting with others; seeing the smiles and expressions on their faces - not looking at a mask with eyes and trying to understand a muffled conversation.
Just my opinion and I thought I was entitled to it.

Yeah, sometimes the meaning gets lost in the words and cause misunderstandings.

    Cheers

What makes you think general public won't cruise if it can be done safely. Many people are already patronizing restaurants, bars and gyms as soon as lockdown was lifted.

I patronize these places too but I'm only there an hour or two.

Cruising generally requires 7 days or more of close patronizing! I don't think cruising can be compared to going to a restaurant or a beach.

Personally, I won't cruise until mask wearing is not needed...

The only thing I don’t like about it is:

Recommendations include required face coverings on board ship, daily temperature checks, and COVID testing of passengers and crew.”

I really don’t care to be on vacation where I have to wear a mask.  And it looks morbid to me when everyone else is walking around with masks. Feels like a twilight zone episode.

I am very sorry that you feel "morbid" about mask-wearing.  Mask wearing is one of the best, proven methods of containing the spread of coronavirus.

Look at what happens when "people" refuse to wear masks.

I don't believe HicksRA was trying to get into a mask wearing pissing contest. Unless I misread him, I think he meant that it wouldn't be a vacation to him if he has to wear a mask on the ship. I feel the same way. I am not going to cruise until the need to wear a mask is no longer necessary. I just don't want to cruise until wearing a mask is no longer necessary. I believe that's what he meant... He didn't say he was refusing to wear a mask.

As far as feeling "morbid". Yes, I agree with him. I feel like I'm in a twilight episode every time I go out shopping. I wear a mask too.

There won't be US ports. It will be to private islands and probably Nassau. The Bahamas are going to want money and cruise passengers if they let the cruise lines hit the private islands. The reason is they know there can be no US sailings without stopping in at least one foreign port.

Are Labadee & Coco Cay considered foreign ports?
