  1. I dont think it will go away any time soon. The mandate isnt hurting their business so why remove it. If people refused to sail as long as there were any mandates in place, they would be gone in a heartbeat.

We are vaxxed so I dont really care either way. My feeling though is that if someone (young child) isnt eligible to be vaxxed, then that shouldnt be held against them and should be able to leave the ship without restriction. I know this has to do with port rules as well.

Try signing into your Carnival account and see if the new assignment is listed there.  We were not notified we had to check for ourselves.  Our selected inside cabin is now a TBA.  Talked to a Carnival rep and she could not tell me when we will actually know our new location.  Looks like we are now a "guarantee" even though our Freedom cabin was midship near an elevator.

They must be working on it now because it shows how many days til I sail but no bookings. When I try to put in my booking number it cant be found.

  3. Waiting to see how this all pans out. We were booked on our first Lido stateroom on the Freedom but now cant do that on the Spirit. This happened to us on the cruise we had booked when Covid hit. We booked our first lido and then they switched ships and we were booked elsewhere. Then covid hit and it was cancelled anyway, twice!

They are required in any indoor space except when eating or drinking. so at the shows , the comedy club, walking around the ship... just not outside.

Not totally true...you arent required while walking around the ship, its just strongly recommended.

  5. Thats how we paid for our cruise that has since been Covid Cancelled 2x. Hopefully 3rd times the charm. One drawback on using the cards. If you decide you want a refund, it comes back as a card. It never was an issue pre-Covid but now when we wish we could just wait it out and go on a land vacation with fewer restrictions, our money is tied up on the cards.

This is a pretty simple one.... If you are vaccinated make sure you go get tested 3 days prior if you are getting the antigen test, this is the one with the high false positive rate. If it is positive, get the PCR test to verify it (as many testing centers would do anyways). PCR tests can take a couple days, but they have a very low false positive rate. If both are positive, guess what...  You have COVID 😄

Actually you have it backwards. The Antigen has more false negatives.

"What about accuracy? False negative results tend to occur more often with antigen tests than with molecular tests. This is why antigen tests are not favored by the FDA as a single test for active infection. Because antigen testing is quicker, less expensive, and requires less complex technology to perform than molecular testing, some experts recommend repeated antigen testing as a reasonable strategy. As with the molecular test, the false positive rate of antigen testing should be close to zero."

I'll have to read the Jet Blue e-mail again, but I'm pretty sure they are not allowing unvaccinated passengers aboard, so the part about taking a Covid test before boarding is irrelevant. I know we will make sure to bring our CDC cards!

I just looked at their website and all it shows is a testing requirement for people coming into the US etc. I see nothing about a blanket statement of requiring vax for flying domestically. If they did that it would preclude any kids under 12 from flying..

We had six Carnival cruises booked before Covid.  Four have been cancelled.  The last two were B2B's starting September 19 out of NOLA.

We rescheduled these two September Carnival cruises out of NOLA to April 2024, still keeping a B2B, and basically the same itinerary.

How far into the future do y'all feel comfortable cruising again ?

Now if I could. Ours isnt until March but Id be stepping on this weekends cruise if I could have made it work.

  9. Great Info. Im wondering how the testing deadlines will work with a cruise? Ours isnt until March so maybe things will be different by then, but our arrival in Aruba is the 3rd day of the cruise (including embarkation day) and is our first port. Will the cruise line have the testing I wonder? Maybe that way you are in the "bubble" and it will cover each port.

Actually I've read the opposite. Celebrity has said that you can get off in ports on your own.

Rcl I expect to be the same, though they are selling bahamas and cozumel. 2 days at coco cay which is a private beach, so if all adult pax and crew are vaccinated it is somewhat a bubble. Cozumel is a island.

I think the ports are closely chosen so you can get off the ship in ports on your own. I dont follow ncl, but rcl and celebrity. I think you maybe made assumptions which are opposite from what these summer cruises are doing. I'm just looking at the nassau and Bermuda departures for rcl for instance. Maybe you are talking europe?

Thats interesting. I thought most Caribbean sailings were making people use ship excursions to keep the "bubble".

If what your saying is the case then I will definitely be looking more closely!

  11. Really the only thing stopping me from "jumping ship" and moving to one of the lines that ARE cruising this summer is all of the potential island restrictions that are or will be in place still. Many times we just like to get off the ship and spend the day at the beach. Its sounding like thats not going to be an option this summer at least.

  12. We opted for the FCC but they ended up refunding things like deposits etc anyway. There was really no rhyme or reason to what went into FCC and what was refunded except for the extras like FTTF and Cheers, those were always refunded.

That being said, its been a couple months since we chose FCC. We have received refunds for the Cheers, and 3 of 5 of the FTTF, those have been showing up on my cc statements at about one per month. The only other thing that hasnt shown up is the deposit on one of the rooms.

Seems could/should have been a much easier process to do these than to chop them all up. I have a spreadsheet that Im keeping track of everything that was paid and everything that has been put into FCC or refunded. Our PVP has been really helpful in making sure things are being taken care of as well.

I've had an August 2021 cruise booked for awhile.  It is paid in full and the result of three previous cancelled cruises.  It has a $600 OBC and a free cheers plan.  I got another offer for free cheers and went ahead and put a deposit down on a January cruise.  If my August cruise doesn't sail, I feel very optimistic that my January cruise will.

Im very confident on ours as well. Im also hoping maybe some of the initial restart things will be relaxed by then as well, like masks on lido and having to take a ship sponsored excursion.

We got Cheers for $100 per room which is still a great deal. Not free but saves over $800 per room! We probably wouldnt have bought it at normal price as my wife wouldnt be able to make it worth the cost.

  14. Well, I had vowed that I wouldnt rebook after two cancellations until I saw ships on the water but I couldnt wait. I booked the Magic in March of 2022 (started a Roll Call for it as well if anyone else is sailing March 26th). If things arent moving by then we have worse issues on our hands!
