  1. We dress for dinner every night. I wear casual dresses and hubby does docker and button down shirt for casual nights. Fancier sparkly dresses for elegant. I don't let what people wear bother me but some were just outrageous . . . one lady in the VIFP room was too unbelievable. Never saw anything like it.

  2. Thanks - making notes for Sept! I was hoping if they were going to replace the Rotisserie they would do it with a Guys. Rotisserie is a great place to sit - will take advantage while I can!

Loved the Burrito Bar snacks :) My favorite is the Mongolian Wok. I try to hit it at times when the line isn't too long - but I'll stand on line - it's that good!

Did you enjoy your cruise? Which itinerary did you do?

We did the GT, HMC, Nassau and it was wonderful. GT/HMC beautiful days; Nassau - cool windy and very damp - we stayed on ship.

I usually get Mongolian Wok the first day immediately when I board; otherwise, I don't have patience for that line. Since we generally hang at the back near the adult only pool, I found I really liked trying some of the items on the tandori . . . on port days when certain crew are aloud to eat on deck, the line was long with all kinds of Carnival employees . . . funny. I would go get a piece of chicken from rotisserie and cut it up and put it on Naan bread with the cucumber sauce and some greek salad . . . . yummy.

  3. Just off splendor yesterday.

Burrito bar is in back before liner pool in the middle of the buffet lines in front of the sweet spot . . . various salsa's are there but only while open (12-2:30 sea days, 12-3:30 port days). However, the grill at the main lido pool also has chips (not as good chips imho) and salsa and is open til 6:00.

Taste bar only open sea days on our itinerary ---- just okay.

Heard rumor that when Splendor goes to dry dock (not sure when), they are going to replace the Rotisseri with Cuccino Capitano.

I do not believe the Coffee/Sweet pay place has gelato. I just stopped by for the puzzles but didn't see it that I remember.

  4. Wish I could join you, Karen, but I'm nearly out of vacation days. We are going to Bermuda in July and I booked us on the Sept 1 Splendor to Canada cruise because it's only using 4 vacation days. It leaves on Labor Day.

Ship looks empty if anyone wants to join us! I'm hoping for a price drop!

Sorry to hear about the demise of the trays  Guess I will have to pick up a small cheapo one and bring my own!

If prices get dirt cheap, I may book this cruise . . . I have it on my "watch"

  5. I just read your review. And a great review it was. So detailed and and with such great pictures. I will be sailing on Splendor in July in the same exact cabin. This will be my first wrap balcony and I can't wait to experience it.

I did read somewhere on another thread that the Splendor is still using trays and not the plates. I believe they said that only the ships with the 2.0 upgrades have the plates.

I noticed that you seem to be a sushi lover like me. I was wondering how the sushi is as I would normally think it might not be that good as it would might be difficult to keep fresh on a cruise. But since you seemed to stop by there pretty often, I assume it must have been pretty tasty. I don't recall you commenting on the taste. Was it good? If so, I will probably be sampling it just about every day. :)

Thanks again for the great review.

The Splendor doesn't have sushi anymore. Sometime last year they went to the "Taste Bar"

  6. Does anyone know the dimensions of the door size? Trying to pre-size my door decorations? They are probably pretty standard but I can't find it anywhere. I'll be on the Splendor May 12 and Freedom June 1.

  7. I too have been on both ships . . .the Miracle 8 times, and in May, it will be my 4th on the Splendor . . . hands down, I prefer the Miracle mostly due to Serenity layout . . .

Enjoying your review and can't wait to read the rest and see your thoughts.

By the way . . . I too am from Philly-ish . . . actually Bucks County and take NJ transit and cab to port . . .

  8. I loved this review. I read it because it was written by you and I had read your Splendor review last year. I had no plans to sail the Fantasy . . . . well opportunity knocked and last night I booked her leaving on Saturday!!! I am beyond excited (still get that way after 36 cruises) and am going to re-read this entire thread so I'm ready for Saturday . . . p.s. flying out of Newark on Friday!!!
