Thanks for the great review. We have done this itinerary numerous times but doing it again in January . . . you gave me a new idea about taking the public transportation to hell . . . just for the hell of it!!!

I have spa cabins booked on both my Sept 14 and Nov 9 Splendor cruises. I cannot wait!!!!

Been on 8 cruises out of NY on the Miracle . . . Have 3 booked on splendor and plan on booking more. Never seen out of control NYers or had any out of control drunks.

Oh, yea...loved those FCC. I honestly think this is one of the worst decisions CCL made. BUT....I must have missed something...you get OBC if you book a cruise while on a cruise? Can you still pick your cabin and book ES? We are going on Splendor again in February (2014) so maybe I will just do some research and if it feels right, I can book the 2015 B2B then. GT is my absolute favorite POC, have never been to Antigua, and we were only in St. Kitts once years ago and DH wasn't feeling well, so we didn't see too much except the monkies!
Yes, almost all the ships have a Future Cruise Desk and Specialist . . . same deal as the FCC's used to be but you have to book ON A SHIP. You can also get friends and family certificates good for OBC when you book. They are free.

When we are on in September, I am booking the B2B Puerto Rico and back January sailing. I want the extra $100 OBC on each leg so I'll wait til I'm on board. I wish they would bring back FCCs!!!!

So funny about the Captain's name...I usually don't pay much attention. I absolutely ADORED Capt. Volpi . . . :
I loved Captain Volpi too . . . had him twice on the Miracle.
Very approachable and you could understand him.

I agree about the crazy cheap prices. Doesn't pay me to stay home. Just saved another $90 on my Nov 9 cruise. I might have to add the Dec 3 cruise to my plans.

The cruise was fabulous. I loved every minute . . . didn't even mind the snow since I cruise from NY often, it was something different. I would definitely do a crossing again, although the canal day was HOT!!!!! We persevered and stayed out all day --- had a bar waiter bring us ice to melt on our foreheads and feet to keep us cool.
We were in the DVD of the trip on sail away and other times throughout the week.

It was snowing in March when I sailed from NYC. At least people weren't sweating their asses off at safety drill! :D
we were on the same cruise. had a snowball fight on serenity aft . . . and some guys made a snowman!!!

I guess I'm the only one who will be taking a vacation from the internet & phone. The only time I will use my phone is when we arrive back in port to call the limo service to pick me up.
Of course I will be taking my kindle but only for reading not internet access.
that is what we do . . . . no internet on board for us. in ports i may use free wifi to see if anything important going on back home.

the bus station that is mentioned. would we be able to walk to market then catch a local bus to a beach --- Darkwood perhaps?

in general the Caribe Hilton has a 2 night minimum for most weekends thru the website. And in fact, if you call also require the 2 night mimimum. Its only thru the Priceline winning bids that you can get 1 night on the weekend and its probably too early for 2008.

knutsonl - we have a similar, but different, situation for the same night ---- Feb 10. At the very last moment my sister and her husband have decided to cruise with us. We had booked 1 room for that night pre-cruise via Priceline - $70 ---- now, of course, my sister is trying to book same hotel -- willing to pay full price, however the hotel which still has vacancies will only book for 2 nights. We have called and called and spoken with management and they will not let her book one night.
The plan is to go without a reservation and see if they can book that same day. If not, we are all going to stay in our King bed room!!!! I also tried to get them to agree to 2 beds in our room but they won't do that either. Said they can't change priceline reservation, but when I contact priceline they say that for specific room types to contact hotel --- big circle.
I know the priceline rule is 2 people only per room but its not like my sister isn't trying to get them to give her a room. Hope we don't get kicked out.

I love these boards --- now I have to go cancel the other 3 reservations I made --- the lowest of which was $167 for a Best Western!

The dining room is open on debarkation day for a sit down/waiter served breakfast --- the standard breakfast menu, not the brunch menu. We always use it on debarkation day because LIDO is so crazy.
