  1. It’s been a few years since our last cruise with NCL. I used to go to a website that showed any drops in the current price of a cruise. You could pay a fee for alerts if you wanted. I tried to find it and had no success. I suppose there was no need during the shutdown but are there any sites like that now?

  2. Greetings. Nice collection of days. My poinsettia is fake đŸ˜±. I drag it out every year. From 2006-2020 we spent winter in Florida so we don’t have much in the way of Christmas decor. Love the quote and I will be making chicken tetrazzini tomorrow!  Drink and wine both sound good. Have been to Quebec city but not Harve-Saint-Pierre. Sending prayers and good wishes to those on the lists, especially @kazu and Jose.
We always have a standing rib roast but don’t want to spend upwards of $130 for it this year. We will be having roast beef a cut called  a spoon roast. Cooked low and slow to medium rare it’s almost as good. DD and 3 grandchildren joining us. All vaxed and the 3 grands had mild covid19 last winter. DD is an ER nurse. She is taking a travel job 1/3 in Binghamton. In April 2020 she was at NYU Langone in Brooklyn at the height of the pandemic so she knows the ropes. But I will still worry.

  3. Good afternoon. The quote may have applied to me in middle school but not later. Not a fan of Richard Lewis. His humor was too gloomy. We have had enough turkey for a while but the recipe sounds good so I will file one for another day. It’s a pass on the drink but I do like Malbec. Have not been anywhere in Japan so pictures will have to do. Thanks to those posting them. @dfish what a terribly sad thing to happen to your cousin and her DGS. @Cat in my lap Happy Birthday. I think I got hit with the CC gremlin. I haven’t been able to post even though I am signed in. Cleared my history and cookies and signed in again and it worked. I do read every day. With our first cruise on a BHB not until next October I wonder how far out will I be able to make dining reservations or ship excursions? I downloaded the Navigator app. It took over a week for our booking to show on it. I booked with Costco.
I am glad to come here and read about all who have or are looking forward to upcoming cruises. Gives me hope we might actually make ours happen!

  4. Good morning everyone. I have a little dark chocolate most days. I haven’t square danced since elementary PE. Love the salmon recipe. I will save it for another day. I already made a cyber Monday purchase. 2 new pj sets from Soma. I will pass on the cocktail but I love sauvignon blanc from NZ. I wonder how the ones from Chile compare?  Never been to French Polynesia, the color of the water is amazing! Thanks for the photos. I am having a bit of trouble planning our next October cruise on New Statendam. I can find my booking on the website but I downloaded the Navigator app and it won’t show up there. It directs me to call a number but I can’t get through. Part of the Have it All promo is dinner for 2 for specialty dining. Is it possible to go twice, using one free and one paid each night?
Prayers for all on the Cares list. Hopefully it gets shorter soon. Wishing you all a good day!

  5. Thanks Rich for starting the Daily. 🙏 for those on the Care list and👏For those celebrating. Debbie I really like the first squash recipe but DH is not a fan. I appreciate the effort and time you put in to provide us with some new recipes, I imagine we are all tired of cooking (well all those who actually DO the cooking!). Summer the drink sounds good but I know I don’t have all the ingredients. I do have John D Taylor’s Velvet Falernum. I became fond of Bermuda rum swizzles when we stopped at the Swizzle Inn there. Not all the stores stock it here. Kazu your memes give me a chuckle and I frequently take a screenshot to send to my friends. Graham that was a scary wind storm! We are fortunate to live in a part of the country where weather extremes are rare but I think we will see that change in my lifetime. We had booked a cruise on QM2 late April 2020. We had plans to visit a friend in Crewe and travel around England and Ireland for three weeks and return to NY on QM2. We all know how that ended. To our great disappointment. I am optimistic we will do the October 2022 cruise unless another wretched variant comes crashing into our lives. I think we all have Covid burnoutđŸ˜«So it is nice to read of those here who have done or are planning cruises. Gives me hope so thanks !

  6. Hello everyone!  I have been following this thread for many months. I thought I would finally jump in and respond. First I would like to say how much I have enjoyed reading everyone’s posts!  Most days it’s the first thing I do after I read the morning paper. What prompted me to post is I booked the first cruise on Holland for DH and myself on New Statendam 10/02/2022 Canada- New England. We will be celebrating 50 years of marriage 9/02/22. We spent our honeymoon in Montreal and our 25th in Quebec and Montreal. We have cruised 7 times. I would welcome any information you can share that may enhance our experience of sailing with Holland America!

  7. There have been some great suggestions. The pictures from Cunard “what to wear” were most helpful. Going through my closet I found dressy black pants and jacket. With a while silk or lacy top I think it would work. DH has to buy a new jacket anyway so we will look for a nice black one. I am sure I can find a bow tie and cummerbund. If this could work for Gala nights we would be very happy to attend! I have a silk cocktail dress that would probably be good too. None of this weighs much or takes much room so maybe it will work.

  8. We are in a similar position. DH and I have booked QM2 eastbound April 2020. We will be touring England and Ireland for three weeks and returning late May on the westbound trip. Because we will be lugging our cases on trains, ferry and buses without porters we must pack light. Absolutely no room for formal wear. We plan to wear smart casual including sports jacket for DH for dinner in Britannia on non gala evenings. Regretfully, we will have to dine elsewhere on gala nights. This will be our first trip on Cunard. This trip involves a great deal of planning so I am trying to not obsess about our wardrobe not being quite up to the standard. Really looking forward to traveling on QM2!

  9. Hello Mr Toad. I see you are from Chester. We will be staying a few days with friends who live in Crewe. When we leave Crewe we plan on taking a ferry to Dublin. Does the train from Chester go to Holyhead? There is a ferry from Liverpool but it is much longer than the one from Holyhead. I think our friends would drive us to either Chester or Liverpool. We are looking forward to seeing this part of the UK with our friends. Thanks for any information.

  10. Yes. While we are greatly looking forward to the Cunard experience it is primarily our transport to Ireland and the UK. One of us does not fly🙁. We will be spending  3 weeks over there. We are retired, not wealthy so this trip is a pretty big deal. Any info or advice appreciated.

  11. Yes I am concerned about luggage. We will likely reserve the coach offered by Cunard for our brief stay in London. Since we will be traveling by train after that I think we shall have to be careful about packing. I did read there are self service laundry facilities on board so that will help.

  12. Now that we have our cruise booked it’s time to make travel plans for our arrival in Southampton. So far I have heard about the Victoria Coach to London at $140 for two people. Has anyone used other transportation such as train or other motor coach to get to London?  Cost? Convenience?  We are concerned about toting all our luggage around.

  13. It is as I suspected. I spoke to someone with Cunard. Bookings in the IF (lowest) are not eligible for upgrades with the promo we booked with. I wasn’t aware it was Chinese New Year promotion but no matter we got the $888 rate for eastbound and $1188 for our westbound return on May 24, 2020. I am happy with my booking. But not so thrilled with the online agency giving me incorrect information. Lesson learned.

We are planning land tours of England and Ireland and visiting friends in Cheshire while we are there so lots of planning ahead. Thanks to all who posted.
