I believe NCL offers an "excursion" from the ship (in Port Canaveral) to Universal Studios (in Orlando). I live near Port Canaveral and do the theme parks in Orlando often. I would advise against trying to visit in one day. As others have said, it will actually only be a partial day and you won't get much done. I would personally plan the Orlando theme parks as a land vacation so you can actually enjoy them. Enjoy the local beaches or depending on the age of your child(ren) visit Kennedy Space Center instead.

We find the Marriott to be fine, always enjoy waking up to the view of the port and whatever ship we are sailing on waiting for us!

Another thought from someone who lives in Florida and travels from FLL to MIA via I-95. Traffic can be BAD. Even though we only live 3 hours north of Miami we always travel down the day before our cruise. Too risky. Good luck and enjoy your cruise!!

That means the teens with aurea experience have free access to the spa don‘t need to purchase additional.
Oh wow! That’s awesome news - my teen will be excited to hear this. I guess so will my “tween”.

The biggest thing is that people just need to do their research to see if their vacation choice matches up to their expectations. This goes for cruises, resorts, and so on. It does not take much time to dig into reviews/forums to see if it fits what you are looking for. I am not bashing the seaside, but right now it sits at 2/5 on CC and 2/5 on another site. The Meraviglia is at 2.5/5 as well. If you are the type of person that lets little thing get to you and can't "go with the flow", you should consider other options. If you have the attitude of ignoring the negative reviews and wanting to go on the ship anyway, you need to have an easy going attitude when you get there to match.
I agree with you completely. We have had good cruises, great cruises and fabulous cruises. We’ve definitely had fun on each and every one! What gets me about reading some of these complaints is just how trivial they are. Unfortunately, nothing is perfect and attitude is everything. I would just prefer not to spend my time around said complainers while enjoying our vacation. We have enough of that in our day to day life where we live!![emoji15]☀️

We have the aurea experience incl. spa package with a massage for adults only.
What about with teens?
We have a daughter with 15 years old. Does she have free access to thermal area as well?
We will have a 15 year old with us also (Aurea as well) but from what I understand the answer is no access. I believe they wish to have the spa area 18+ only which I completely understand. I could definitely be wrong though! Maybe someone who has already sailed knows for sure?

;););)
Exactly! Until today, I thought everyone did it that way. I mean... who goes and says Darn it, there should be two closets for two people! Most people have one closet at homr, in hotel rooms, on cruise ships etc. How do we manage???
You wrote exactly what I was thinking. The only thing I am the least bit concerned about for our upcoming cruise is the number of complainers that might be onboard with us!! Geesh...people need to get a grip!
(No, not really concerned because I actually think the few all hang out on this board to complain - misery loves company).

We've sailed with Carnival, RCCL and NCL. Our latest cruises were with NCL and we loved them and thought we would stay loyal (we have children). We've decided to give MSC a shot and are looking very forward to it. The fact that they offered Loyalty Match was a draw for us and we considered it pretty smart marketing. MSC does seem to be targeting the NCL market (we enjoy the Adult Beverage Package on NCL & booked Aurea to have similar). If our experience is what we are hoping for we will stick with MSC. Great itineraries for our family!

Nassau is scrapped on our Nov 17th cruise, replaced by Costa Maya

How did you discover this? I would much rather go to Costa Maya (again) versus Nassau (again). Did they email you?

Last time it was 35k points in the beach towers. This was also in oct and different seasons have different costs.

Thank you:). That is a little better then what I expected.

Sorry to clarify if using marriott points you can book one night. When i tried using cash there was a 2 night minimum.

Do you happen to remember how many points you are required to use? I imagine it is probably 40,000+ but it says I have to call in order to use points when booking so I am unsure.

The Divina had mediocre reviews as well and I had the best time!
I'm not worried.
I am going to be in the Caribbean (btw, awesome ports, right?), don't have to cook or clean, have a show every day, can swim, lounge, read, drink, work out or generally do whatever I need to to relax. What more could I want?
I love your positive attitude and I completely agree! It looks like we are on the same sailing - we can't wait:D!!

January is a quiet month for cruising the Mediterranean Sea. The prices are at the year low. Maybe MSC didn't get a full booking on the YC area. I am a regular MSC cruiser with a gold card member. I never got any free upgades in the past. Someone in the MSC has granted me this upgrade. It is the first time I will enjoy the YC perks.
That's awesome! Enjoy your cruise and your upgraded cabin!

MSC has tickets for tenders? Hmmm...another difference. Good to know, thanks.
NCL uses tickets for tenders also. Not sure about other cruise lines?

We are wondering the same thing. We are 2 adults and 2 children in a deck 9 balcony also. Cabin symbol (diamond) shows sofa bed. When you click on cabin description it states "3rd bed is a bunk". MSC representative states there are no bunks on deck 9 so it is a mystery? Any insight would be great!

So happy to read that you enjoyed your experience overall. We sound much like you and do not let little things bother us especially while on vacation. We are very much looking forward to our sailing this summer!

Thank you Jim for taking the time to share your thoughts. I enjoyed reading through and looking at your pictures. I actually found many of your complaints to be positives for my family (for example, our family never eats dinner at the buffet, ever. I am happy to hear the MDR food was better). I also found several of your complaints just plain silly but that is just my opinion and I won't restate what others have said. I am hoping that MSC does not "Americanize" itself anymore then it is. We have NCL and RCCL for that which we always enjoy. We have been very impressed with MSC so far: easy booking, status match to Black, 5% off immediately following Status Match and prompt friendly customer service via phone calls. That has been our experience but have read that others have not had the same experience. We can't wait for our turn and will report back after sailing to answer questions.
PS - Just to chime in on "PizzaGate"... We wouldn't eat a pizza that looked like the one with the orange stuff on top. I don't even know what that is? We don't sail Carnival anymore but one thing we did enjoy was their pizza - thin and crispy and not smothered in toppings.
