Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. If you're using the app, there's a place to "switch voyage" so you can toggle back and forth. If you're on the website, once you log into your account, you can see a list of your upcoming sailings.
  2. Virgin's prices continue to rise after itineraries are released. I've been tracking pricing for one of my cruises in December 2024 that I booked in September 2023. It has now tripled in price in just six months.
  3. This^^^ What a great resource! If you don't drink alcohol, you'll have a hard time using up the Bar Tab in a short cruise of 5 or 6 days. There is no refund of unused Bar Tab at the end of the cruise. There are no traditional milkshakes on board. The ice cream counter, "Like Me Till I Scream", is scoops only. The Social Club serves a variation of a milkshake made with some ice cream and soda, with or without alcohol. There's no blender to mix it up. It's handmade and stirred.
  4. There are no steamers in the rooms. They are a fire hazard, which is why you can't bring your own on board. They have full laundry and pressing service available.
  5. I was on a cruise last month, and the reservation system was still in place. First come, first serve may work. What Virgin needs to change is the time they open the theater for seating, which is only 30 minutes, I think, before showtime. Since I have done 8 cruises now on Virgin, I've seen all the shows, so I can find other things to do during that time.
  6. Kids on a Celebrity cruise AND in the Retreat? I feel sorry for your fellow passengers who look for a peaceful experience in the retreat. Leave the kids at home, then there's no problem with a babysitter.
  7. I'm sorry this happened to you. You have the right to be frustrated. Celebrity is really going downhill in their service. I have one more cruise then I'm done with them. I've sailed on Virgin 8 times and they are getting my future cruise $$.
  8. Yuk! You must be one of those people that pick your nose and cough into the buffet while getting your food and spread norovirus.
  9. This is off topic from the original question, but I believe you are incorrect. Boarding time and check-in time are synonymous and used interchangeably in cruise language. After you "check in" on the website or app, you're assigned an "arrival time", aka boarding time, which shows up in the app and on the website. Boarding/arrival is always a set time.
  10. Out of respect for all of us who have the early boarding times, just wait your turn. People who show up early and cut the line cause chaos in the boarding process. You're on a cruise ship, so you will never go hungry. The buffet is open all afternoon.
  11. There is no baggage benefit for booking your flight through Celebrity. You'll pay whatever the airline charges. Take caution, they usually book you on the worst itinerary with long layovers and multiple stops.
  12. I've been on 8 Virgin cruises, with 4 more this year. Celebrity has taken a downturn in all the things that Virgin excels in, so my cruise dollars are going to Virgin.
  13. I know your frustration, as I've been experiencing it, too. For itineraries with Lahaina on the list of ports and it's not replaced with another port, Celebrity owes you money for the port fees and taxes for Maui if you booked before their official notification in November 2023. I'm on the Edge for the Transpacific cruise on 4/14/24. My TA got nowhere with Celebrity, so we had a 3-way call and I insisted that they couldn't keep my money if no port was replaced regardless of the reason. In the end, after giving me the caveat that they're making a "special" exception for me and they don't owe me anything, I was given a $25 OBC. I'll be taking my cruise vacations with other lines. I really like Virgin.
  14. I've seen the same thing...Celebrity has gotten rid of the OBC for regular bookings, not the suite. They've stripped away the prepaid tips in the so-called "All Included" but it's not all included. Remember the days of the Go Big, Better Best about 8 years ago? If you're only seeing a $500 charge for wifi and drinks at booking, I'd take that in a minute. I'm a solo traveler, and the difference in price from the cruise only rate to the all included is usually $1500 to $2500 more no matter how many days the cruise is.
  15. I placed a move-up bid at the lowest bid price and I'm 30 days out from the sail date, so it probably wasn't accepted. I recently found out from a rep at Celebrity that they hide some of their inventory from public view and keep it open for move-up upgrades. So your cruise is probably not really sold out.
