Umbrellas for rainy days.
Yes, I thought you meant beach umbrellas. See where my head goes?😎

Towels, yes, umbrellas, never did I the past. They're a bit cumbersome!

T minus 16 days until my first Crystal adventure is underway and I have two small questions that would help me with packing.
1) Hairdryers. Does anyone know the brand (or relative quality) of the hairdryers in the OV cabins? I only travel with a carry on, so being able to use the provided hairdryer would give me a good amount of extra space.
2) Temperature. How cold are the public spaces onboard Serenity? I am always cold, but I’m trying to decide if I can survive without bringing my heated vest. Any insight would be appreciated, especially from similarly cold natured folks!
There has in the past always been 2 dryers - one useless one mounted in the bathroom and one pretty good one in the room itself in a drawer. Don't know the brand or even if they still have them. I suggest you contact onboard guest services for the definitive on that.
I'm always freezing in most of the public areas - bring a shawl if you tend to get cold.
Have fun!

I haven't read all of the suggestions but try using a different e-mail.
Keith
Good idea! Now done so we'll see.......

Thank you all for your suggestions! I’ll just have to rely on my TA till Crystal figures out that I’m alive and interested in cruising!

You have to opt-in to the emails, since your permission to be contacted doesn’t convey to a new company that buys the data (or that would defeat the purpose). Since A&K has major operations in the EU, I can’t imagine they have any part of their company that isn’t compliant with GDPR and the other patch quilt of privacy regulations covering their target markets at this point.Vince
Did that. They think I’m too old to cruise anymore 🤪

Also, checking your spam can be like going on a treasure hunt. I never remember, until somebody tells me they emailed me, but I didn’t receive it. Even emails responding to mine have ended up in spam! Does that make any sense? Not in my spam😉

If you're not receiving periodic emails from Crystal, I suggest you call and make sure you are on the email list. I just got back on having been inexplicitly dropped in May.
I think SEVEN times is quite enough 🙄

I get NOTHING. 50 some cruises since 1995, maybe they think I'm a ghost by now?

I agree that 2024 Med season would be good indicator on their ability to attract back their clients. Many people have already fully booked their 2023 season before a relaunch and some have done the same for 2024.
Maybe if they did some marketing to OC cruisers some of them would come back🙄

I’ve been in a completely empty Palm Court, then walked downstairs and Starlight was packed. I’ve never seem a crowd in Palm Court, but maybe I don’t stay up late enough.
In nearly 30 years of cruising the Crystal ships, I've never see Palm Court packed unless it's a party.

Keith, did you reserve your Vintage Room before boarding or after? We are not interested in reserving a private dinner but joining a group that might be organized by the sommelier as we have done on past voyages. Checked our roll call, Miami to Miami November 2, but nothing happening there regarding Vintage Room. Thanks again for your help!

I'm not Keith but have done VR a few times. Just speak to the Head Sommelier when you board (we usually see him at lunch in Waterside on embarkation day) and let him know you are interested. When he has enough guests he will call you and ask you if you are still interested and off you go! Easy.

And the caddy at tea is not new to the new Crystal. It was being used on the old Crystal. Think it might have started after the return from the Covid shut down, but not 100% sure to that as I'm not a tea person.
Patty
It was there before Covid, I definitely remember it on WC 2020 and maybe in 2019.

Roy, thank you for taking time to keep us in the loop! Re a cane - perhaps the medical dept has one they could loan you? Once on Symphony, I was limping around due to a bad hip. The nurse happened by and saw me and immediately ran and got me a cane. All they can do is say no, you'll be no further behind and maybe they actually have one to loan.

I'm not good at uploading pictures but we had an amazing seafood tower at Cafe Sydney, atop the Customs House, fabulous views. And if you are somewhat physically fit, the bridge climb is amazing!
Terry is right about Manly, it's a fun day trip. I would skip the Zoo and do Featherdale Wildlife Park as it focuses on Australian wildlife, and while the zoo is a great zoo, it's still a zoo. A trip up to the Blue Mountains would be a wonderful day too. You better plan a week in Sydney!

I agree completely a lot of unforced errors on Crystal’s excursion. What I was trying to put across was I enjoyed the experience of being there for NYE very much and when I was there to experience it.
I was on that Crystal organized NYE party cruise a previous year (2012) and it was awesome. In the intervening year there was a change in management and that meant all the difference. We 2 boats, fully stocked with lobsters and Sydney oysters etc, and never ran out of Veuve. It was an amazing experience, we had our whole family with us and they were wowed. I know Terry had an awful time of it the following year, but I would hope the problems will be no more, especially under this new management.

Also you might consider some pre-cruise time in NZ to see some of what is just too far for a shorex, same with Australia, lots to see that can't be seen in a 2 day port stop.

- We love Waterside lunch. If unavailable the Grill or Tastes would be our choice. We really do not care for buffets of any kind.
