I can't speak for tubs on other ships but the ones on the Mariner were an issue unless you are tall and fairly flexible. The sides are very high and the bottom of the tub is several inches higher than the floor of the bathroom, making getting out tricky since you are stepping down and over a high "wall".

 

I would never book a tub cabin on the Mariner.

Marq is correct: the 2003 WC was on the Mariner and 2004 was the first of many WC on the Voyager (until 2011).

A historical fact: the Navigator was the first ship used for the Radisson World Cruise in 2002, before the Mariner and the Voyager joined the line.

The wavers I've heard about are for people with over 50 cruises (I think that's the number) and Full World Cruisers. You may be correct but if so, that information has been kept quiet.

Reservations are booked ahead on line and each passenger is permitted 2 reservations per cruise - it can be 2 in the same place or one in each of the 2 specialty restaurants (Silk Road - Asian or Prego - Italian).

 

If - once you are on board and you can get the space - there is a charge of $30pp for any reservations over the 2 allowed.

What is Ray's last name?

I have sent luggage from the US out of the country with Luggage Free and there are rules: items which cannot be included, a list (very general) of what is in the case - that sort of thing. I don't know if the rules apply to Canada. And don't remember the details of can/cannot.

Clearly this will complicate the situation since the owner did not pack his/her case.

I am not making an excuse for anyone - O or LF - just some very general information.

I did know about the Renaissance designation. And I've been on the Regatta (and on the Riviera).

 

Are the Ocean & Royal Princess and Azamara Quest "R-4-6"? if I remember correctly, there were 8 R ships.

I agree with Alexandra, debark was a mess.

 

We were told to go to deck 5. I was near the supposed exit as I was in one of the first groups scheduled to get off the ship.

 

I did hear a staff person say that a reason for the switch was that new staff was boarding on deck 5. That was the fact but iI couldn't tell you if that was the reason.

 

The Customs/Immigrations people got off on deck 5 a short time before the announcement. I don't think they had anything to do with the change in decks.

 

I made my flight (noon-ish) without any problem but don't know about anyone else. No-one on my bus seemed worried.

 

And on another of Alexandra's comments, I too spoke to a staff member and at the end of the conversation, he asked for my cabin number. I was reporting back to him about something he has asked about. I sort of expected a note thanking me for my help/suggestions. None came. Not a big deal - just odd.

 

I also agree with Alexandra: The cruise was fine - no issues - good food, excellent staff, elegant ship - but not a good ending.

Honestly, I wasn't 100% sure - one of the problems with all email/postings is you can't tell the exact meaning - no body language, no verbal clues. Now that that's behind us!

 

Oceania seems to be handling things well although there are always issues in emergency situations.

 

In addition to the people who died, I feel badly for the staff and crew and for the future passengers who don't know yet what's going to happen.

I like your idea of carrying a few days of your prescriptions, it makes sense . . . . I think it is something I will do in the future. I also like the idea of extra money - a money belt might be a good idea - and I carry a copy of my passport when I'm off the ship.

 

I suspect that there are a large number of people watching how things progress. And I'm sure many of us know people planning to sail on the WC - either personally or through CC.

 

None of this changes the tragedy of the loss of life but I know we all hope that all will be better news soon.

I didn't post for the shock value. I did it because of the Regent/Oceania connection.

 

I am a long time Regent cruiser and - although I don't know who - am sure I know some staff/crew there.

 

Like Jackie - I have just embarked the Riviera. The staff/crew on both line are the heart and soul of the ships. One cannot sail on the ships - for me, it has been 12 years - and not know and love the crew/staff.
