YoHoHo Posted February 1, 2017 #28 Share Posted February 1, 2017 (edited) Glad to see they have the band on the pool deck. Regatta I am sure I saw there was no stage so thought maybe the live music was no more. Thanks for posting. Will be following along. Have a great cruise. YoHoHo Posted February 2, 2017 #30 Share Posted February 2, 2017 (edited) Thanks for the picture! The upside is more pool-deck seating with a few more chaise lounge in the shade. Edited February 2, 2017 by YoHoHo
Rare What A Market Posted February 2, 2017 Author #31 Share Posted February 2, 2017 Arrived, very quietly, this morning in Key West. I hadn't realized we were even at the dock until they made the announcement we were approved to go ashore. Weather looks great today. Not too humid. They announced a chance of rain, but right now there are only thin/patchy clouds. Sitting outside at Waves for breakfast. This is a great option to avoid the crowds that occasionally take over Terraces. Many hot breakfast choices. Great way to enjoy a non-air conditioned environment. HeatherInFlorida Posted February 2, 2017 #32 Share Posted February 2, 2017 Waves .... my favorite. Love it for embarkation, too. Looks like you're on our exact itinerary making your journey more special. Have a great day in Key West! Love that port.

Rare What A Market Posted February 2, 2017 Author #36 Share Posted February 2, 2017 Hi mommy The Cruise Director is Paul Grant. I haven't had a chance to ask him if he's staying on for the next cruise. The Captain's party is this evening. I'll try to bump into him. Rare What A Market Posted February 2, 2017 Author #38 Share Posted February 2, 2017 Definitely a low key day here in Key West. We made no plans for this port other than to rent bikes and cycle around taking in the sites. (By the way, DW hates riding bikes on congested streets -- dodging cars, people, pedi-cabs, scooters, and drunks.I get her view. It isn't for the feint of heart.) Key West provides it's fair share of "adventure" oriented activities and some interesting historical sites. The main diversion seems by far to hang out in bars. If that's your thing, you'll love this place! Back to the making of plans. Or for that matter, the NOT making of plans. This cruise is definitely about not making plans. That is the exact opposite of the last several cruises we've done in Europe with Oceania. Those trips are all about planning. I probably overdo it with all the research and obsessing over the details. Goodbye Key West. Barely got to know you. Here we are heading out to sea. Sea day tomorrow! Twiga Posted February 3, 2017 #40 Share Posted February 3, 2017 The Regatta does still have the band playing on the pool deck for sail-away. They also played every day at noon, or at least I saw them on sea days when I was onboard. They also played for special on-deck events during the cruise. Rare What A Market Posted February 3, 2017 Author #42 Share Posted February 3, 2017 Ranking very high of the things I love about Oceania is the start of my day in Barristas. I have noted it in previous live threads and it has been debated relentlessly on other threads, but I prefer the Barristas on the O ships. Please don't get me wrong, I also like the R ship's version. We're talking about preferences. Why? (Forgive the repetitive nature of these comments for those of you who had read my previous live threads.) 1.) I love the the location of the O ship's Barristas. Perched overlooking the pool and surrounded by windows you have a true sense of being at sea. On the R ships, Barristas is located adjacent to the MDR entrance. This is a fairly closed in location with no way to tell you are cruising across vast stretches of open sea or maybe arriving at one of the great port cities somewhere around the globe. 2.) I like the "bar" style in which it's built. It generates its own energy with people coming and going. Feels a bit more a true Italian coffee bar. The R ship setting is very much like the library. Comfortable chairs and tables. A great place to relax -- just not what I looking for first thing in the morning! :) Anyway, Viva la Difference! Rare What A Market Posted February 3, 2017 Author #43 Share Posted February 3, 2017 My favorite passenger statement (so far) overheard while wandering between the onboard bars: "You know what I hate about this ship? They don't have any of those stupid 'Cir-cuss DU Soul' shows!" I tried to capture the pronunciation of this hysterical statement. Almost blew my mouthful of Cabernet thru my nose. Love it! Rare LHT28 Posted February 3, 2017 #46 Share Posted February 3, 2017 Barristas I do like the location on the O ships but they have a lack of seating at prime time On the R ships I am happy to have Barristas even if it does not have the perfect view cannot imagine where they could have put it if not by the GDR unless they took part of the library away  JMO
Rare What A Market Posted February 3, 2017 Author #47 Share Posted February 3, 2017 Forgot to note an interesting announcement the Captain made at last night's Captain's party. His first statement after the perfunctory greeting was: ports of call being changed. Next port after our day at sea is changing to Roatan instead of the originally scheduled port of call at Costa Maya. Essentially the ports are changing place with Costa Maya now being last port of call versus the original schedule calling for Roatan. (Followed by a day at sea before we disembark in Miami.) The cause? The Captain said it was "maintenance on the diesel generator." No idea what this means. No added information provided. (Engineers: Feel free to weigh in.) Didn't say it was routine or otherwise. But how could it be routine, otherwise our itinerary would have changed before we embarked-- presumably. General hubbub ensued. So much for the introduction of the rest of the staff. Captain said all ship organized excursions were being reorganized. No statement addressing what happens if you have privately arranged excursions. As noted earlier on this thread, I made no plans for this cruise. So, no impact to me. I haven't spoken with anyone who had privately arranged excursions to see if ship was offering any compensation. Put those flamethrowers down. :) I am not suggesting it is Oceania's responsibility to do anything. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Rare chrismch Posted February 4, 2017 #48 Share Posted February 4, 2017 Enjoyed Roatan much better than the Costa Maya port with the rocky beach on the previous cruise. Had fun snorkeling at Tabyana Beach with Corey as our guide.
