Yoga-Cat2 Posted June 28, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2012 We have sailed on Crystal several times and are considering a cruise on Oceania's Riviera. How do the lines compare as to food and service? We know that Oceania's ports tend to be more unique, which is our reason for wanting to try this line. doubledobles Posted June 29, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 29, 2012 We sailed Crystal a few years ago but are now Oceania lovers. There are no set dinner times on Oceania, dress is more casual, and if you want to dine by yourselves, it's not difficult to get a table, as we found on Crystal. The entire atmosphere is less formal and, of course, the food is better. You get great service throughout the ship and if you're in the PH category and up, a wonderful butler and a large room with tons of closet space and drawers and a lesser price than Crystal. I don't know if they still parade that damned Baked Alaska on Crystal Cruises last night, but they certainly don't on Oceania, thank heavens. Try dipping your foot in the Oceania pool and decide for yourself, which you prefer.

Crystal hasn't done this in quite a few years. Nancy

traveler916 Posted June 30, 2012 #6 Share Posted June 30, 2012 Thanks for all of the information. We'll give Oceania a try! You won't be sorry :). It's a wonderful cruise line, and the lack of formal dress makes it a lot more fun for me...
xrvlcruiser Posted June 30, 2012 #7 Share Posted June 30, 2012 Baked Alaska Parade: I think all the lines have stopped this - has to do with safety issues.
