Royal Excursion - Is it worth it?

CocoCay is Royal Caribbean's private island. It is not necessary to purchase any excursion or spend any money there if you don't want to. We usually walk off the ship and onto the beach. Usually, we rent an umbrella for $20, and the lounge chairs are free. The ship provides an "included" barbecue lunch. When we were there on Anthem of the Seas last year, the lunch was very impressive. Paella, gyro bar, lots of salad options, hamburgers/hot dogs, roasted pig, etc. The same included beverages (water, iced tea, etc) are provided, and you can use your seapass to purchase other beverages just like on the ship.

You will get more responses if you post in the RCI section.

You can also drag a couple of loungers to shade under trees.

I think you are talking about the clamshells. I looked that them when there, and personally would not spend the money. The beach beds, bungalows, and cabanas are nice, but more expensive.

Last time, we had a beach bed booked, but met a couple who invited us to share their cabana. This year, we plan on not booking anything.
