Redtravel Posted October 8, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2017 just booked 155. We have previously been on Windsurf in 127 and 147. Both were ok. We prefer forward cabins close to the lift. 147 was perfect 127 was midship. In 127, often could not get to the lifts when the sea doors were shut. Has anyone been in 155? Ski Mom 2 Posted October 8, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2017 (edited) There have been several posts about that cabin. Have you tried to search this forum to find them? It is tricky for some cabins when the doors are closed and knowing which stairway to use. Edited October 8, 2017 by Ski Mom
scuba diver sailor Posted October 9, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 9, 2017 looking at the deck plan for Windsurf room 155 is directly across the hall from the elevator you shouldn't have an issues with the doors keeping you from the lift. hope this helps
Redtravel Posted October 9, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted October 9, 2017 I have been on deck one of the Windsurf two times. I know that it is close to the elevator and not shut out by the sea doors. I read somewhere that somebody smelled smoke. I have smelled smoke on the side where the elevator meets the crew quarters. Elevator is on the even side. 155 is on the opposite side from the elevator and it is not the cabin closest to the crew quarters. 157 is closer. I was more concerned by possible noise. I try to avoid cabins that are at ends of the set where the sections are put together. For that reason, I would never take cabin 144 or 145. On the deck plan where there are spaces between cabins, there is a joint.
Ski Mom 2 Posted October 9, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 9, 2017 When I did a search someone mentioned they could hear folks talking while waiting for the elevator at times too.
Redtravel Posted October 10, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted October 10, 2017 On Windsurf, if anyone talks in the hallway, you can hear it inside the cabin. Cabins are not soundproof. Anyrime somebody walks by your cabin, you will hear it. Not really a problem. At night, most people go to sleep early. We never saw many people after dinner. Seldom see anyone in the casino or Compass Rose. Evening entertainment is not huge on Windstar. Ships have 2 entertainment groups/duos. My favorite is the band in the Windsurf lounge. They are excellent. They often play to an empty room. We love them and enjoy listening. Many times it was just us and the band.
J&MSails Posted October 13, 2017 #7 Share Posted October 13, 2017 We have stayed in cabins 151 & 155 on the Surf. Due to the curve of the bow, 155 only has one night stand at the side of the bed, which is no big deal because you still have access to both sides of the bed. The cabin is great, never heard the elevator. Enjoy
Redtravel Posted January 29, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted January 29, 2018 Just a follow up. We liked cabin 155. It was a bit narrow next to the bed near the window. Not enough room for a nightstand. I used the shelf in front of the window. Even though it is narrow between the bed and window, there was enough room to walk sideways in front of the window. The cabin was the same as other cabins that we have booked on previous cruises. I also liked being close to the forward elevator. Never had a problem with the closing of the water tight sea doors. Next to the elevator, an air cleaner has been installed. That was a huge plus. The only time that you could smell anything was when the crew put food on the elevator. Most of the crew were kind not to board an elevator with guests. There were a few exception when we shared the elevator with the crew moving smelly stuff. It wasn't a big issue.
