Wayfairers Posted June 4, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 4, 2018 Anyone been here recently? What did you do? I have found conflicting information concerning a visa - did you need one? Sent from my iPad using Forums
4774Papa Posted June 4, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 4, 2018 Haven't you read about what is going on in Venezuela? No way would I go to that country.
OCruisers Posted June 4, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 4, 2018 No cruise lines that I know of any longer have port stops in Isla de Margarta.
150edmiston Posted June 5, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 5, 2018 Not sure I've seen many ships stopping there recently, but a few years ago we took a tour to Isla La Tortuga. Essentially it was a party boat to a deserted beach. Was great fun at the time but the next day wasn't so good! There is a little market at the port as well. I think you'll need to really research this before you go and book anything as the political situation is really volatile at the minute. Hope that helps. Wayfairers Posted June 5, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted June 5, 2018 Our Holland American cruise is stopping at Isla de Margarita next year. It is an island off the coast of Venezuela, not the mainland and, to my knowledge, they are not having issues. I am aware of the issues mainland Venezuela is having and trust the cruise line to cancel the port if it is unsafe. This same cruise line cancelled our Egyptian ports a few years ago due to safety issues when I felt it would have been safe.
