Flamingo Beach is a fancy name that Renaissance added to one side of their beaches on their private island. They allow a small number of people to buy day passes, but it is based on their hotel occupancy at the time. We've stayed at Renaissance several times. The price used to be $99.00 per person, but I heard that it has recently gone up, but I'm not sure. The hotel has been full lately, many people trying to buy a day pass have been turned away. Some people think that it is worth the fee, some don't. After going to several private islands that are owned by the ships, I don't think that Renaissance is near as nice. I wouldn't pay to go there, but that's just my opinion. There are much better beaches in Aruba .

I'm staying in Aruba now, and my favorite beach is Eagle Beach. You don't need to spend money for a resort. The beaches here are public and you can rent chairs and umbrellas.

Where would be the best drop off place to enter the beach and rent chairs

Are there any clothing optional beaches/resorts that are fairly close to the cruise port? Do taxis go from the port and back to port?

I would get off in front of Chalet Suisse restaurant. There are vendors right across the street, along with bathrooms and a snack bar.

I have enjoyed your Aruba knowledge. :)

Can you tell me why you personally seem to prefer Eagle rather than Palm for a beach day? Just wondering. Have never been to either but will in November. Thanks for your opinion.

Thanks for the compliment. Both beaches are nice. If I were coming for the day on a cruise, I would be perfectly happy with either. Since we stay there for several weeks, we prefer the quietness of Eagle Beach. If you want to be near lots of restaurants, bars, shops, casinos, plus water activities, go to Palm Beach. That's where the action is. If you are looking for something more relaxed and quiet, you might prefer Eagle. We are in our 60's and don't need a lot of activities or nightlife any more. Now days, we just hang out on the beach, go to dinner, and come back to our resort, although we did try Trikes for the first time on our last trip earlier this year, and that was a blast.

Thanks much and helpful as usual. Good info and I appreciate it. Sounds like Eagle is good for us too. Hope you travel again soon. :)

Have fun! We will be back in Aruba for two weeks in February. We aren't cruising this year, but we're looking at some options for fall of 2019.

Two weeks??? Living the life, aren't you? Maybe in about five or six years when husband retires we can stay that long.

Thanks again.

Ha ha:D:D We sometimes stay for three weeks, but we have a new dog and we don't like to leave her that long. We started going to Aruba 10 years ago, when I retired. My husband is self employed, and he sets his own schedule. Everyone we know knows that we will be in Aruba every February. Even then, it's hard to leave and come back to gloomy winter.

How wonderful for you. Perhaps we will meet one day on Eagle Beach. I will be the one in a swimsuit.:')

I will be there in Feb also. We stay at a resort in Eagle beach. B and T. We love the shops and restaurants at that casino. Maybe I’ll see you!

Great! Where are you staying? I think you mean Bucuti? If so, you are right next door to us. We are at Costa Linda the first week, and Renaissance the second.

I figured that you were talking about Bucuti. I edited my last post and included that, but I guess you saw my original post. I also mentioned that we will be right next to you at Costa Linda the first week, and at Renaissance the following week.

2/9-2/16. You? Do you ever go to the SandBar @bucuti?

We are at Costa Linda 2/1 - 2/8. Then we move to Renaissance. We've never been to the sandbar because we always go to happy hour at Costa Linda, and usually once at Manchebo, where we've stayed several times. We have had dinner at Elements.

I am going to to do lunch and massages on Renaissance . Any thoughts?
