I am going to to do lunch and massages on Renaissance . Any thoughts?

Are you doing this on Renaissance Island or at the Renaissance Hotel? If on the island, do you need to buy the day pass, or is that included in the massage package? I've never gotten the massage there, so I don't know how that works. If you are doing this on the island, my advice is to go over early if you plan to spend the day there. The good spots with shade go quickly. The food and drinks are pretty good.

OK ladies - Sounds like you girls are in the know about Aruba and I need to know some things - lol!

My husband and I (early to mid 50's) are coming to Aruba in mid February on a cruise and we are looking

for things to do. Unfortunately we aren't arriving until about 1:00 pm but I know for sure I'd love to do some

sightseeing and definitely some beach time. Husband has some mobility issues so walking will have to be at

a minimum probably. I love the sun but husband doesn't so much so we will need a beach area with some shade

as well as sun, loungers and some bathroom facilities. We aren't really drinkers, maybe one fruity drink and a beer

and maybe some snacks but that's about it for us.

We are in port until 11 pm so we might like to go back to the ship, clean up and go back out for dinner. Kind of

on a budget though so keep that in mind.

Any suggestions ladies? Thanks so much!

You are arriving at peak time, so finding shade might be a challenge. Since walking needs to be at a minimum, I suggest taking a taxi to Moomba area (near Holiday Inn) on Palm Beach. They have more chairs and umbrellas for rent. Another option would be to take a taxi to Surfside Beach. There is a beach club called Reflextions there that should meet your needs. Afterwards, you can go back to the ship, shower, and take a taxi to dinner.

Hatteras51, thank you for all the good info. I need to use a walker to get around, so most beaches are not good. I can use a pool, do you know of any pools near the beach on either Eagle or Palm beach. Or any other idea you might know of.

If you need a pool, I would go to an all inclusive resort. Barcelo and Riu are good. You can book them through shore excursioner or resort for a day. I believe that Barcelo still lets guests book directly . Both of these are on Palm Beach.

Thanks for the compliment. Both beaches are nice. If I were coming for the day on a cruise, I would be perfectly happy with either. Since we stay there for several weeks, we prefer the quietness of Eagle Beach. If you want to be near lots of restaurants, bars, shops, casinos, plus water activities, go to Palm Beach. That's where the action is. If you are looking for something more relaxed and quiet, you might prefer Eagle. We are in our 60's and don't need a lot of activities or nightlife any more. Now days, we just hang out on the beach, go to dinner, and come back to our resort, although we did try Trikes for the first time on our last trip earlier this year, and that was a blast.

We have the itinerary that doesn’t get us to Aruba until 1 pm. If we just go to Palm beach there’s still plenty to do in that area isn’t there? Also what time will it get dark there first week in November.

There will be plenty to do in Palm Beach in the afternoon. Sunset is around 6:35. You can stay in Palm Beach after sunset. Palm Beach comes alive at night. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, shopping, etc right there.

But, do they have umbrellas and chairs on Eagle Beach? Thanks.
