Jacksonville Travel

We will be driving down to Miami and go through Jacksonville.

When is it best to hit the Jacksonville area. Should we plan to drive through around 10 or later in the AM or drive through later around 3-5 in the PM???

I would avoid both the morning and afternoon rush hours if possible. ;)

Definitely 10:00 am vs. 3-5 pm. I travel to Jacksonville on business regularly and the rush hour traffic am and pm can be rough.

With all the construction I hate going through Jacksonville!!

I would definitely take the East Beltway and go around rather than go through downtown!!

Thanks for the replies. I was leaning towards going through Jacksonville in the AM. We'll stay north of Jacksonville. And, GTOgirl, you cinched it for me. I will take the East beltway. I hated going through Jacksonville last time so your advise will be taken

About 20 miles north of Jacksonville is Fernandina Beach. It is a such a neat area. There is a Hampton Inn on Second Ave right downtown that is nice. Very walkable area with lots of shops and restaurants.

Kinds of a nice change from the interstate hotels....
