Carnival Breeze questions

Breeze is our #1 fave of all Carnival and Royal ships. Decor is best of all, colorfully understated and unique lido seating. Food is as good as any and better than most. There is a walking/jogging track on deck 12? but deck 5 is our favorite for walking (except on really windy days or at speed) as well as for lounging/sitting/relaxing. The Oasis class covered track is better on windy or bad weather days but I/we love that sunny open space on Breeze and it is seldom crowded. Crew and congenial service are also among the best. Love the Red Frog Pub and piano bar, both on deck 5 again, near the taste bar and coffee/desserts counter....so convenient and all of that is in between 2 elevator areas. Carnival balcony rooms are mostly bigger than Royal but balconies themselves are about the same? And once we got a deluxe OV cabin and it was almost "huge" and with 2 bathrooms, one with a mini-tub. That was on Dream but Breeze is Dream class. Deck 11 aft area, overlooks the aft pool, is also a nice place to lounge and chill, and it's right above pizza, bar, ice cream and so on. So many conveniences plus great services and the unbusy but invigorating decor....no wonder it's our favorite ship of all :)

As for best deck for balcony cabins, we love being closer to the water (have had cabins hi and lo) and for water view the aft area cabins (on either side not actual aft) are best, where deck 5 narrows down and you can see the water right below...and also very quiet there, less traffic and so on. It's a long walk to the forward MDR (for anytime dining) but we don't mind that at all. Deck 4 is a nice scenic route for getting there if you want to avoid the casino on deck 5.

I have cruised the breeze twice and it is one of my favorites. I only stayed in deluxe ocean view and this last cruise snagged a 4j cabin at the very front of the ship. The best thing about this cabin was it was the cost of interior (we sailed at peak time so it was still pricey ), but I would book it again. We were on deck 6 and a quick turn off the hallway and thru the double doors, we were outside on our own semi private deck. Awesome views and if you walk one story down , deck 5 was right there and went all the way around the ship. We did not have to take the elevator until we wanted to go up to 9 or 10 because the promenade, casino, etc on the 5th deck. There were hot tubs on both sides of the ship on 5. I really hate the breeze is leaving Galveston because I would like to sail again but we will probably end up flying to cruise her again. I too love the sky course and the open airy feel of the common areas.

We are on desk 6 with other family members near by. It was all we could get. I see you had desk 6 as well. How was the sound from desk 5 below? We have aft 6444.

Always went on Royal Caribbean and Norweigen and now our daughter and her family want to go on Carnival and wants my wife and I to go with her. Most things I see about this ship looks really nice. Can someone give personal feedback about balcony rooms, food quality and do they have a walking track? Thanks ahead of time !

We are also frequent RCCL cruisers and have sailed NCL a couple of times. We're just off the Breeze two days ago, which was our 4th Carnival cruise. While everything is a matter of taste, the RCCL ships are far-and-away more elegant and attractive. In itself that may not change the cruise experience but it does set a tone. The Breeze has many features but IMO, they are not as nicely executed as similar offerings on RCCL. Again, that's doesn't need to be a deal-breaker; all the things kids need for an enjoyable vacation are there - water slides, a ropes course and sports deck, an arcade, a full children's program AND 24-hour free ice-cream!!

As to the food, we actually thought it was quite good in the MDR. The atmosphere is different and much more casual than on RCCL and the menu items are a little more, basic, for lack of a better word, but virtually everything we ordered was very well prepared and of good quality. We were very satisfied with the MDR. You will find a startling difference in the buffet. The Breeze has a whole bunch of cafeteria-type lines but they all offer the same, limited items. The crowd moves quickly but there is not the abundant variety you'll find in an RCCL Windjammer. As with any line (RCCL and NCL included), the specialty restaurants are light-years better than the food in the included venues but you get what you pay for, I guess.

As others have mentioned, you can walk around the ship on Deck 5 but be aware one spot on the port-side is a smoking area. There are also lots of treadmills in the gym which is free of charge, and change rooms and large showers available there as well.

We are sailing the Breeze in March 2019 because of having such rave reviews. It will be our first Carnival cruise since 2007, as we’ve been sailing RCCL and NCL. I always thought the food was better on my Carnival Cruises than those two other lines, and most definitely better than RCCL. Excited to try all their new complimentary food venues. As for a family cruise, you couldn’t have picked a better ship. I actually booked it’s sister ship, the Magic for an April 2020 family cruise to celebrate our 50th Anniversary.

Happy early anniversary!! My 2 cents, NCL is heads above where RCCL is with food NOW. It wasn't that way 15 years ago though

We felt that the food on NCL was far superior than RCCL, also. We especially LOVED having O’Sheehans available 24 hours! We sailed NCL in January 2017 and then again in January 2018, and discovered that they changed their MDR menus between the two cruises, and it was much, much better.

Thanks for your quick reply. Looks like we'll be just above the shops so hopefully we'll be good - unless they also allow smoking by the forward hot tub as well?

No. The only outside smoking areas are the one previously described and the rear of Deck 11 on the Starboard side, overlooking the pool and movie screen.

We sailed on the Breeze in June in a cove balcony (deck 2 only), about a dozen doors aft of the forward elevators. Very convenient to go up by stairs to deck 3 and the Sapphire (MDR for anytime dining), or to use the atrium elevators to go on up. Also liked the shade for the balcony, and the closeness to the water.

Very windy on the walking track. A better workout is to go to the aft elevators, take one down to deck 0. Go up the stairs to deck 14. Repeat 4 times. A 25 minute workout that is a beast. But then you are good to go for the day. Hard to get any worthwhile workout on the track...people, workers cleaning, the wind...just not good.

Less people if you start walking before sunrise lol

You should be fine, 6444 is located behind where the wide part of deck 5 narrows so your view will be straight down at the water, not above any crowd activities that may be going on. Last cruise on Magic (same arrangement) we were in the same location but on starboard side where the Sea Day brunches are, but even on sea days it was not noisy for us on our balcony. You should be even better being on the port side.

Go point on the deck below, thanks. Was concerned about the Limelight Lounge below my cabin and then the Dance Floor area in the Ocean Plaza for cabins above. Grand-kids above that section.

Hadn't thought of the clubs below....we were over the piano bar I think but that would never have the booming bass that the dance venues may have at peak hours. But the thing is I don't remember ever hearing much of that anywhere on the ship, even walking past, though I can't say that I was ever around (or over) the club areas late at night. But DH (a smoker, loves deck 5) has never mentioned it either and he gets around a lot all during waking hours. So I'm just wondering if they have the clubs extremely well soundproofed...?

But generally we now love the aft cabins on most ships that we've tried them on, especially the Dream class ships but on Oasis as well. They've always been really quiet and less busy than other areas that we've had cabins on. I'm sure that you'll be happy with your location.

Thanks so much for your response. We will pack ear plugs just in case ;p
