Solstice Norovirus

Sounds like Celebrity is trying to do everything to contain the virus. Do you happen to know if it's less people ill compared to other past sailings or are there still a lot of people coming down with noro? Hopefully the percentage who are ill is getting smaller.

We sailed from m Sydney, did one day at Sea, then Melbourne - the word was that as of Melbourne there were 18 sick. As we left Melbourne, the captain came on the speaker and informed guests that we would be n heavy sanitation mode probably for remainder of cruise. We have been 2 more sea days, plus a day cruising the Sounds. Today we dock in Dunedin, so I'll will be listening for any reports on sickness and post.

Thanks. I'd appreciate it if you would keep us up-to-date as we are supposed to Embark next week. Enjoy the rest of your cruise.

Thank you for the update. We are the next cruise out leaving Auckland next Saturday and am hoping the virus has been contained. I have bought lysol and clorox wipes and will be bringing them with me. Enjoy your vacation and please keep us updated.

Cruise ships are so different now. On Orsova we shared a cabin, with bunks with my parents and also a shared bathroom. We thought we were having a luxury holiday. There was also 2 classes tourist and first class.

I have the same memories. We must be of a similar vintage, my sister and I were travelling with our parents. It was pretty luxurious for its time!

Thank you for all the updates. It is what is, I guess. Off to buy some probiotics tommorow and still whacking back the echinacea. Getting exciting noro or not - less than three weeks to go!

We have not received any further information on the number of sick, but the level of caution is still high on the ship. They have casino barriered off so there is only one entry / exit point allowing a crew member to sanitize everyone. Everything is served individually (so no common bread baskets / butter dishes / salt & pepper shakers) - all of this seems to be overworking the crew a bit. We attended a party last night and they were not allowed to serve canapés because of the heightened health hazards. We also had a notice that if you were deemed sick, that New Zealand required a 48 hour quarantine (so no going ashore if doctor says you had it). Again, the crew is working extremely hard to accommodate the guests and keep people healthy, but after 7 or 8 days on the ship, it's becoming tiresome, and guests are getting grumpy

Thanks for the update. Wish you had better news to report as it looks like there is still a problem with Noro on board. We're supposed to be embarking this Saturday so not too happy to hear this. I'm sure the staff is totally exhausted also having to work extra. I guess all we can do now is wash our hands often.

Thank you for the update. I️ appreciate hearing first hand from you so we know what the current status is and what we can expect on our cruise November 25th. If you have any further updates we would all be very thankful to hear from you. Stay well and enjoy the rest of your cruise.

Report from the NZ Herald of Noro on the Solstice: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=11941852. Good to hear that Celebrity are bringing in additional crew to manage the situation; fair comment about the incidence in the broader community (I think I read up by 30% in the Sydney area). The crew must be stretched dealing with it. Really bad luck if you're one of the 200+ infected. As someone else with the glass half full said, that's still over 2500 people not effected. Speedy recovery to all who are sick.

Wow! Not good news. Where did you read up to 30% in the Sydney area?

Thanks

Another news article, but just to clarify i think it was up by 30% so be aware that a 30% increase on not a lot is still potentially not a lot.
