Tampa cruise port departure problem

Our post-cruise excursion out of Tampa for this Monday was canceled for lack of participation, and we have a later flight. We get off the ship at 10 AM and will have our luggage. We can’t check it in till 3 hrs before the flight. We need to kill some time and store the luggage before we go to the airport. Anyone know the cost for a taxi from cruise terminal 6 to the aquarium?

Any other suggestions would also be appreciated. Thanks :)

Cannot be more than $6 per person, which is the flat rate for any rides within the downtown area. In this case, you might want to check Uber or Lyft.

Thanks, Bob. Either way would probably be better than walking it. The walk itself sounds ok, but don’t want to mess up the luggage wheels.

you plan to taxi for 650 yards?

driver's gonna LOVE you .....

you'll spend more time loading unloading and paying then it would take to walk it ....

******

not ideal in your opinion I can predict BUT

you can go to the airport and find a place to sit and not check in your bags until the correct time

there's actually a nice bunch of 'places' in the Tampa airport ....

OR

rent a car for the day ... bags stay in the car and you can explore YBOR or more .....

Thanks, Capt BJ. We would save alot of money just going to the airport.

My wife just thought that the airport security wouldn’t want us hanging around with luggage for a long time before going to the gate. That sounds better than our airport. At ours you have to check your bags once inside, with no place to hang out. So maybe we’ll consider trying your idea.

You won't be the only ones waiting at the airport.

Check and see if the port has lockers, or bag check area. If so you, you could at least walk around the shops and restaurants in that area, even if you don't want to do the aquarium. You could kill a good bit of time and have lunch. Then head to the airport.

Even though TPA has some nice restaurants, etc, most of them are after you check baggage and go to the gates. Yes, there are chairs to camp out in, but most food is fast food before the gates. Tampa is my local airport, spent a couple hours there last Thursday. Free wi-fi!

Thanks dd, and all others for your ideas. We were watching the news late and sooo glad we did. The Atlanta airport (which we were scheduled to change planes at on our way home) had a power outage this afternoon and may be behind for days. Many flights cancelled. Luckily we could change ours to a later nonstop for no extra charge. Now we can enjoy the aquarium longer.
