Jimmy came out last year with the Margaritaville collection. It has two CD's and you just can't go wrong with it! Actually, you can't go wrong with any of his CD's!

My kids learned the lyrics to "Volcano" for their cruise last year!

I agree with Niki. Just buy his 2-cd collection from last year... I think it might be called Margaritaville ?

You can't go wrong.

I went to Walmart online and downloaded all my favorite Buffett songs. They are 88 cents per song but you get to make your own mix. If you have a burner and broadband connection, it's really quick and easy.

I love Feeding Frenzy, his live CD! And being from Cincinnati, you know I know my Buffet!

I enjoy all the ones that everyone else mentioned (the one from last year is called Meet Me in Margaritaville and is an awesome collection)-- plus I love to bring Don't Stop the Carnival! My friend lived on Roatan in the Carribean and when I visted here they played this non-stop -- so it just reminds me of small island life!!!!

"Don't Stop the Carnival" is great. It is based on the Herman Wouk book of the same name and is loosely about his experiences when he lived in St. Thomas.

I have the two CD Margaritaville set, also, and I have to get a daily fix of these two phrases...

"I wanna go back....to the islands...."

"Got a Caribbean soul I can barely control, and some Texas hidden here in my heart..."

I thought Jimmy Buffet was the defacto CD on ALL Caribbean cruises??

I like his live album...Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays . It's a nice compilation of classics and newer songs. I listened to it for weeks straight after my cruise just to keep the mind-set going .

Anyone going to see him in concert this Summer? I ebayed for tix since he sold out here in NJ VERY quickly! Spent an arm and a leg for those lawn seats...but it's WELL worth it!

I think I have every Jimmy Buffett cd, plus several bootlegs, and any one would be perfect cruise music. Maybe, everyone of them is the way to go.

I would suggest (as someone earlier did) that you buy Boat, Beaches, Bars and Ballads. It's a four-CD set, and it covers almost all of his "hits" as well as some of his lesser-known songs. However, I also have a soft spot in my heart for Living and Dying in 3/4 time...it was my very first Buffet CD...I was 10!!!

Jerlyn, have to second the above votes for Banana Wind, BBB&B, Meet Me in Margaritaville and Live T/Th/S (you MUST have at least on JB live album!)

I posted this on the CCL board a few days back in response to a question about favorite cruising songs in general. Here's my top 50 list which (of course) contains many JB tunes as well as some others I hope you'll enjoy. Note that the last song in the list (for CCL three-night cruisers) might only apply to a few Princess die-hards.

bob, I prefer the UB40 version of "Red Red Wine" and the CSN version of "Southern Cross". Also, JB does a half-Spanish version of Margaritaville that's great. JB also does a good job on "Sea Cruise".

Thank you all for the information on the songs and for the great list of all of those songs. I wish someone could make a nice CD with all of them on there.

Ooh, Ooh.... I'm listening to JB right now as I read this board! I had wanted to buy a greatest hits set of JB's that contained "Come Monday", 'cause I LOVE that song, and I knew that the two CD set that was advertised last year contained it, but I didn't know if I'd be so gung-ho for the rest of the songs. I couldn't justify buying that for the one sure-fire song (penny pinching when it really doesn't help that much.... should pinch the coins when I buy clothes!)

So, I went out to the local WalMart and found an 18 song set that contains a lot of the songs I really, really love, including Come Monday. My absolute favorites are that one, Banana Republic, and A Pirate Looks at Forty. I had no idea that Jimmy B. was so capable of such beautiful music! Hey, I was familiar with Margaritaville, and that was about it.

I've read that quite a few of the old favorites on the 2 CD set that I *didn't* buy are alternate takes or live versions, not the "originals", so I think I'm glad I bought the one CD that I did. I may have loved the other set as well..... never know!

bob&karen: I love your list! I only wish I'd had that compilation when I went on my May 1st cruise! Lots of variety and good tunes!

Hey Bob! You may have just found a way to finance your next cruise!! How about selling copies of "Bobs Favorite Cruise Tunes" !?! You may be cruising before you know it and have to retire from that great work space of yours to cut CD's! bob, the half-Spanish version of Margaritaville is on a 2 song cd that was attached to a bottle of Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville tequila and margarita mix. It has an instrumental called "Tequila" and then the other version of "Margaritaville". I got it about 6 months ago. Since then, I have seen it listed on ebay. I would be happy to burn you a copy if you would like.
