New to Carnival

Hello everyone, I am posting this thread for advice and hopefully for some good info about Carnival.

My wife, Suze and I (my name is Ken) have sailed with Celebrity, NCL and RCCI. This will be our 1st on Carnival. We are sailing from Baltimore on the Pride 12/6/09. We joined the roll call and did our homework (I think).

I have questions but the most immediate are the specialty restaurants.

On the Pride is it Pinnacle or David's or both? We would like go there early to Pinnacle or David's on the Monday night that we are sailing so we can have enough time to enjoy dinner and then hopefully, if they show it, watch Monday Night Football (Ravens @ Green Bay).

I guess I am asking about your experience on the Pride if you have sailed her. How is the water flume and what else should we try to see or not miss on the ship?

Any advice or suggestions are welcome. I am so glad that Carnival is sailing from Baltimore again.

Ken.

Welcome to Carnival!!

David's (the supper club - steak house) is the specialty restaurant. Hopefully you can get a nice dinner in before heading on deck for the game (if they show it - usually they show movies).

We loved the ship. The Spirit Class ships are a great size for us and never seem crowded. We sailed the mexican riviera on the Pride.

Enjoy!!

david's is the name of the supper club / steakhouse on pride. so named, for a very prominent, full size sculpture of michaelangelo's masterpiece in the room...

it's the only pay per person restaurant on pride... you can book reservations online...

by the water flume, do you mean water slide? i don't totally understand that question...

i haven't sailed her yet, but will in about 3 weeks... i guarantee you i'll post a nice review when i get back.

hope that helps? ;)

Thanks for the quick reply. We also like this class of ship. It seems to fit us. We have never been to the Riviera yet but who knows. As for us, the Pride is leaving from our home port. Gotta Love That!

Question? Are there any sports bars or do they have ESPN in the rooms?

I know these questions are strange and we should be on a cruise and not thinking about the everyday but if my Raven's are playing and I can't be there I want to see it. We usually meet enough folks on the ships we have been on that we see the game or host the party :D

Thanks, we are goint to the steakhouse no matter what. I understand it is patterned after the best steak houses.

Yes, I meant the water slide. After you have been on board any info would be helpful about the ship.

Thank you, Ken.

We were on the Pride in 2007 with a group of friends, she's a great ship! There are pics in my signature.

it is patterned after the best steakhouses. and you would not be dissappointed. i highly recommend it.

sorry for the flume / slide mix-up... i just think of a log flume when i hear that word ;)

keep an eye out for it... i love reviews, and have yet to find a fully-inclusive one for pride from baltimore, let alone with the new itinerary... so i plan to write one :D

let me know if you want to know anything in particular. i'll do my best to oblige ;)

I did not see it answered above, if it was sorry for the dup. There is a sports bar and almost certainly there will be the Monday night game on. I think the sports bar is next to the casino (although I may be mixing my ships up). You are lucky to have the Pride in your area year round. Wonderful class of ship (Spirit Class). We have sailed in the class 4 times (2 each on the Pride and Spirit) and hope to soon again. Enjoy your cruise.

that's right... and i've got a few months on ya. stay tuned :D

i look forward to your feedback, too... :)

I'm not jealous, we have a lot of things we have to do between now and our cruise. Additionally, we get to cruise in December and still have time to do Christmas preps.

I only have to work 6 days from Nov 30 to Jan 08 2010. :p I've only had a schedule like that once before in my working life.

We'll have to share some feedback but I am sure it will be a great cruise.

Thanks Jimbo, I have always found that when a ship is cruising close to the U.S. the satelite usually picks up and they usually play the sports that are available. The further away, the least likely they will show U.S. sports.

The fact that we will be at sea and they have a sports bar tells me that there is a very good chance I will be able to see the game.

Thanks again, Ken.
