rucruisn2 Posted September 3, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2009 I read RCL's website, it said on a 7 night cruise, 1 smart casual night. Do men really wear sport coats? Just wondering if we should bother packing one for DH. Thanks.

Especially if they're going to a specialty restaurant. Dressing up a bit makes the night a little more special, IMO. Yet you'll certainly see a lot of men who don't and for the most part if they're in dress pants and a nice shirt they'll do fine.
Sue L Posted September 3, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 3, 2009 If he wants to bring it then do, not necessary though. My hubby does because many times it is cool in the public areas and he is glad he has it.
luvjftffc Posted September 3, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 3, 2009 most people do not dress any differently on smart casual nights. I wear dresses all weeek, but my fiance wears dress pants and a polo shirt all days except formal nights.

Kurbanfan Posted September 3, 2009 #7 Share Posted September 3, 2009 Don't bother with the sportscoat........we just got off the Mariner and that night is just like casual night....... I have to say I saw more shorts in the dining room on this cruise then ANY of my Carnival cruises......which include shorts.......

Not only is your observation spot on, but you will also note that his posts are always the same. Click on his screen name and a little menu will pop up. PSCruiser Posted September 3, 2009 #9 Share Posted September 3, 2009 To be honest, although RC says that there will be smart casual nights, on many cruises they never get listed. In any case, smart casual is certainly a non-event - you may never even be aware of it.
rucruisn2 Posted September 3, 2009 Author #10 Share Posted September 3, 2009 Thanks all, pretty much what I thought. We've been on Celebrity since the change, but not RCI and just wanted to double check. Less to haul.

rucruisn2 Posted September 3, 2009 Author #13 Share Posted September 3, 2009 I did. You are correct. Gosh, I hope I didn't start a war on the boards! I'm lucky my DH will wear big boy pants for dinner. Ever since we moved to Florida, he LIVES in shorts.
