I am a type A person and I never ever do anything last minute. I usually plan our vacas at least 9 mos to a yr in advance. My husband and I are going on vacation the last week in Sept. Its been one of those years. My Dad was ill and had surgery and so was my husband-surgery for him too. We had a cruise booked on Princess for later in the Fall but my husband siad we should cancel to be closer to home. So we did, We were going to go to the gulf coast and chill for our vaca! That was until we went to AAA on saturday to get our oil changed:), I went into the vaca part of the AAA office to check on our trip to the coast and left with a 7 night cruise to the carribean on the Carnival Glory leaving in less then 3 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!( got a great rate for a balcony for 470!!!pp)

I have a ton of questions that I know you all can help answer! I know these questions have been asked before so don't shoot me but I need your help.

1) What time should we get to the pier-Port Canaveral? I know there's a time the cruiseline says but what time do you all suggest?

2) Can we bring wine and scotch on board?

3) Not into the formal nights-OK to skip?

4) What should we do in Nassau?

5) Can we take 3 bags? What will the weather be like?-going to nassau, St Thomas and St Martin

5) We booked a gty balcony-It seems that all we have left are cat e's when you look at travel sites=Are our chances good that we will be in a cat e?

6) Have cruised rccl before but never carnival-With it being fall the kids should be back in school, right?

Thats enough for now. Thank you in advance cc!

1. You can usually board around 11:00

2. ?

3. OK to skip formal night, however if you are going to eat in the MD be respectful; wear nice dress or slack outfit, and a man should have a sport coat.

4. ? We do nothing but walk around have been their far to often. The Atlantis is always interesting.

5. You can take as many bags as you would like on the ship. The temps will be similar to Florida. HOT

6.-----

7. You may or may not have fewer kids. We were are a PACKED ship with Disney a year ago at this time, and with all the rate drops who knows!

You can carry on one bottle of wine each.

We were going to skip "elegant" night last week because we were "packing light", and then decided that DH would wear a dress shirt and tie. I wore black slacks and a dressy top. We were NOT underdressed. So go to the dining room and enjoy the lobster!

Never sailed out of Port Carnaveral but we always get to port about 10:30 at the other ports.

It's not like the airlines, you can take 3 suitcases if you wish , no problem.

You are allowed to take one bottle of wine each on board with you without any problems so that can be taken in your carryon baggage when you board. Scotch is not allowed although many will pack alcohol in their checked baggage(pack it carefully so it doesn't break!!) and have no problem but be aware you could be some of the unlucky ones if you choose to do this and have it taken away.

No need to go to formal night if you don't want to, just go to the buffet.

You're sailng during Hurricane season but that doesn't mean you will have any problems, just be aware that your itineary could change or you could end up with missing ports and have sea days instead. Go with the flow and you'll be fine. The Captain will do everything possible to keep you out of bad weather and in warmth and sunshine.:)

All depends on what you enjoy as to what you should do in Nassau. We did Frommer's walking tour of the city, shopped at the straw market, walked to Arawak Cay to the Fish fry to enjoy local food and then a taxi to Cable beach to enjoy the resort and casino and than a taxi back to the ship. Lots of things to do depending on what your desires are.

Hard to say which balcony you will be given with your guarentee booking. Don't count on the category e but you do have good reason to have high hopes.

Yep, good time to sail with less children on board as school is back in session although there will still be some on board.

Enjoy your cruise!:)

doktor...why are you making up your own rules?? Carnival says it is OK for a man to simply have a shirt with collar, tie, and I saw men just with a shirt on,

no tee shirts....and long pants...that is the Carnival rules

I think it would be "respectful" if people on here did not make up their own rules regarding the dress code

Like it or not, it is much more casual than even just a few years ago.

No rule says a man SHOULD have a sport coat, that is a rule YOU are making up.

To the OP: you probably have the clothes to attend the elegant night (there is NO formal night)....you don't want to miss the lobster, prime rib..yum...enjoy

1. - get there about 11ish, could be on board by noonish-12:30. Make sure everyone has passports/BC and print out your funpass. Each check bag needs a luggage tag. I usually print them out on photo paper... stronger paper.

2. One bottle of wine per adult can be brought on board in carry-on luggage or checked luggage. Scotch - it is illegal to bring on board BUT many do. Put it in a empty soda bottle and wrap in plastic bag... YOU can bring cokes/water in a "reasonable" amount - so just bring coke and some "altered" coke...:D

3. "formal" night does not exist anymore. It is "elegant" night and nice slacks/nice top will actually do for both sexes. A nice sun dress and a tie is more than acceptable.

4. Don't spend your money on Atlantis... Go to Sheraton for $20pp for beach/pool pass. A cab will run around $5pp or get the jitney (private bus) for $1.25pp - ask around and someone will point toward the bus stop.

5. Baggage on the ship is "reasonable" and if you have a total of 3 bags you will be right in the middle. Only restriction on baggage is if you are flying and what the airlines will accept. In Sept. it will be warm mostly, could be a little cool in evening. Many women take a jacket/sweater for the ship.. it can be chilly inside.

6. You will be happy regardless - stop worrying where the cabin is going to be and be ready for FUN!

7. You should be low on kids... I'm sure there will be some and you can count on a few under 5ish. Many parents will younger kids will cruise because it is cheaper.

Hope this helps.... NOW take a chill pill and relax - YOUR GONNA CRUISE!

One bottle of wine per person allowed, they will confiscate hard liquor.

Why skip formal night? Just dress nice and enjoy the lobster!! have 2 or 3 it's allowed!

Unsure of what the weather is like in Nassau, was a little chilly when we went in Jan. (in the 60's) so chilly is subjective..we did everything on our own there... we did the Pirate Museum, straw market, and walked the Queen's Staircase, beautiful and relaxing, and walked to some Fort...comfy shoes a must..if you want to do a beach day I am no help...St Thomas is my favorite place on earth right now... what a day we had there...! We did the BOSS excursion thru Carnival, it was well worth the money, then we went to Megans Bay...just hopped a taxi on our own...one word..PARADISE!! And walked thru the markets in town...We do tend to do a hard and fast pace when in ports, as we like to see a lot.. But I could have happily chilled out the whole day at Megans Bay...Haven't been to St Martin...YET :)

Congrats on busting out of that A type mentality!! Nothing is more fun to me than last minute sponteneous trips!!!

Definately going to be less kids...but I have never been particularly bothered by kids..

The Glory is a great ship. We sailed her in January. The eastern itenerary is also nice. We have been to Nassau many times. So we just hang out. The Blackbeard Cay is a nice beach day. It can be a little pricey though.

The hard liquor is your choice. IF you take it, it has to be "hidden" in your checked bags. If they find it they will confisicate. Win some, lose some.. There are literally thousands of posts on how to smuggle. I won't get into..

Port Canaveral is a nice port. Easy to locate, park etc...

Uh, Many times liquor has mysteriously showed up in my luggage once in my room... Several times it has been an entire suitcase and my TUX was missing.

:D

:eek::eek: OMG we must get to the bottom of this mystery!!!!!!!!!!

(I said allowed!! smarty) :D
