collielover Posted September 11, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 11, 2009 Cruiseing on the Carnival Pride in Nov. Is it best to book excursions before. Or can you wait to get on the ship?
falkcor Posted September 11, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2009 the advantage of booking in advance is that you are reserving a spot for yourself, which is especially useful for those excursions with limited availability. excursions do sell out. however, you are also able to wait until you're on the ship if you would prefer. Rare jimbo5544 Posted September 11, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 11, 2009 Another consideration is if you pre-book and cancel you will be charges a 30% fee. Just be sure that is what you want to do.
StillPooh Posted September 11, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 11, 2009 Another consideration is if you pre-book and cancel you will be charges a 30% fee.Not true! Carnival's website clearly states you can cancel without penalty prior to sailing: You may cancel all or part of a shore excursion order online at any time prior to the cut-off date. Simply click “Edit/Modify My Shore Excursion Orders” at the bottom of the itinerary box on the My Reservation page. You will be automatically issued a full refund to the credit card that was used to pay for the shore -excursion order. Please allow 7-10 business days for the credit to post to your account. No changes can made within the cut-off window. If you need to make changes after the cut-off date, you must wait until sailing and see the Shore Excursion Manager onboard. In the event of a cruise booking cancellation within the cut-off window, a full refund will be automatically posted to the credit card used to pay for the order. If the designated contact person on a shore excursion order cancels their cruise booking and the remaining guests who are sailing would like to retain the shore excursion order, a new contact person needs to be assigned. If a designated contact person cancels and does not reassign the responsibility, the associated shore excursion orders will be automatically canceled and payment will be refunded. Once you are onboard the ship, your cancellations are subject to a 25% cancellation charge. However, all shore excursion orders are non-refundable within 24 hours of arrival in port. A refund, less any applicable cancellation charges, will be applied to the designated contact person’s sail and sign account. Carnival will only offer shipboard credit for shore excursion order refunds. Please note; any credit not utilized by the end of your cruise will be refunded via check to the order’s designated contact person on the morning of debarkation. I went ahead and booked ours to avoid the risk of the ones we wanted selling out.
Mack704 Posted September 11, 2009 #5 Share Posted September 11, 2009 The following is an excerpt from the passage just quoted from Carnival's web site: Once you are onboard the ship, your cancellations are subject to a 25% cancellation charge. However, all shore excursion orders are non-refundable within 24 hours of arrival in port. A refund, less any applicable cancellation charges, will be applied to the designated contact person’s sail and sign account. To me that means if you cancel prior to the ten day cut off, full refund. But if you pre-book and then cancel on the ship, you're subject to a cancellation charge. Harvey
chachi Posted September 11, 2009 #6 Share Posted September 11, 2009 If you book before you cruise, you can cancel without penelty. I cancelled 2 excursions on my last cruise to Alaska. I received a full refund.
suecav Posted September 13, 2009 #7 Share Posted September 13, 2009 I will vouch for the fact that excursions do sell out. I was on the Pride for the 8/21 sailing. We tried to book an excursion for Freeport on board and all but two were sold out.
