Question about long layover in Paris

We have the opposite situation from a lot of threads re Paris layover. Since Delta just changed the flight (surprise surprise :D) we now have a long layover in DeGaulle. We arrive at 7:55 a.m.and depart at 1:15 p.m.

I know there is a Sharaton in the airport. Does anyone know how feasible it would be to get a day room so that we can catch a nap between flights and if it has day rates.

thank you in advance for any information.

For $90, you could also purchase a 30-day DL SkyClub membership. That would give you lounge access at CDG (AF lounges) as well as at DL lounges in the USA (departure and connection points). Showers, snacks, beverages, internet access and other ammenities. IIRC, there are some sleeper loungers at CDG.

Different option than a day-room, but a bit more versatile in that you can use it on your outbound and return trips, and at multiple locations.

Not quite sure where you are traveling from, etc., but during my last long layover at CDG, I opted to do a little site-seeing in Paris by taking the RER commuter rail train. If interested, see http://europeforvisitors.com/paris/articles/paris-rer.htm or http://parisbytrain.com/charles-de-gaulle-airport-cdg-to-paris-by-train/

Follow-up for clarification:

If you purchase a DL club membership, you would only need to get one, with the other person getting access as a guest. No need to buy two, so only one $90 cost.

Flyer Talker -- thanks so much for your helpful feedback. In fact I was going to ask if that included a family member. Looking at the Delta website, it indicates that guest privilege is up to the particular club, in this case Air France. Do you know if that would apply to Pars. I had not even thought about a 30 day membership -- in the US I always use the Amex Platimum for access to Delta. If I could bother you with one other question.

Do you have an idea what the lounge is like in DeGaulle - my recollection from several years ago is that it was crowded.

Thank you again for your input -- it is much appreciated

Double check with DL, but I am pretty sure the fine print includes CDG lounge in T2E with guest access.

The lounges are nice, though not luxurious like some in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Kuala Lumpur. They can be busy at peak times. Items are self-serve, furniture is in the sleek Euro style. Functional and comfortable, especially by comparison with the terminal waiting areas.

If you've been in the DL clubs, you know the general way it works. AF is similar.

Following up my original post, I checked around some more and found that i can go from ATL connecting in Amsterdam to Lisbon. But the layover in AMS is only 1 hr 5 min. I can also do it on FF in Business Class. This compares to a 5 hour plus layrover in CDG (flying coach but with exist row seats) Is that doable.

Again thanks much in advance for your valuable help

If the flight lands on time, it is easily doable.

If it is really the KLM flight (KL 622), you have an excellent chance. the other flight (KL 9088) is really a NW operated flight which has a poor on-time record.

Keith - we are scheduled to arrive in Lisbon on Nov. 10 and the ship leaves Nov. 12. So we do have plenty of leeway if something goes wrong.

BTW - I have also found that we can do business class on Air France with a 2 hour 15 minute layover in DeGaulle, but I checked and it seems that if you are business class, thy will escort you to the departure gate if you have less than 50 minutes to connect.

I would contact the hotel and ask if they offer day rooms and if so what the rates are.

Thanks for all of your valuable input. After looking at the Sky Miles optiions which seemed to vary by the minute - and with the help of a wonderful Delta agent, we have booked a flight from SDF -ATL-CDG- LIS on Air France Affaires (Business) with a 2 hour 10 minute layover at DeGaulle. If we happen to miss that there is another flight to Lisbon two hours later and we have use of the Affaires lounge if necessary. The Delta on line FF showed it to be 125,000 one way - but the agent got it at 100,000 miles. (We had previously had coach for 60,000). We are returning from Miami - so that is no problem. I figured it was worth it to go Air France Affaires class.

BTW - I did check day rates at the Sheraton and they quoted 155 Euros.

Again, thanks for the input. I can relax now and look to the cruise.
