Athens - Taxi for six from ship to hotel

Six of us are ending our cruise in Athens and need to get ourselves and our luggage to our hotel downtown.

 

Are we better off to hire a van or large car in advance or just take taxis at the pier when we get there?

If you want to stay together, you need to advance book a van. Most taxi's will barely take 4 with luggage.

Get your wallet ready! Cab drivers charge quite a bit to get from Pireaus to Athens. We were fortunate to find a cabbie on the road to take us for the meter rate....which they are supposed to use. Cost under 8 euros! We tipped heavily as we appreciated his honesty. Many drivers wouldn't even accept the job of driving to Athens for ANY cost. :rolleyes:
