Upsell to Owner's Suite on Fantasy Class Ships.....Does it happen?

I was in the OS on the Ecstasy for my birthday last year and had the same issues with the room being made up/turned down. We had to call room service for ice, our room steward never took care of it. The lido deck noise didn't bother us, but the "OS booking department's"

excuses did later. They offered me the room again 3 months later for another cruise and were trying to tell me it was a brand new program, of course I knew better. In the end they eneded up telling me that I'd paid to expierience the room, so regardless of the service I'd gotten my money's worth. I was told "well you got to enjoy the large room and that is what the charge is for." Ridiculous. It made me wish I would've stuck with my ES and saved $1600. UGH! I'm the biggest Carnival cheerleader ever, but the whole OS mess really got to me.

I think that it is worth it... even if the cabin attendant never even shows up at all!! There's a great thrill that comes with staying in a cabin "that doesn't exist!" We have stayed in Royal Suites on RCCL several times. We have a Garden Villa booked for September on NCL. The OS experience will be great... even if there's jogging above, party music to the side, and no service from below!!! :)

It sounds like the problem is more with the Ecstasy (staff) than with the Owner's Suite itself. We have sailed in the Owner's Suite on multiple ships (not Ecstasy) and had stellar service. If you ever need to find your cabin attendant, he/she will be down on the Verandah deck tending to those cabins. If a visit down there to make a request or question when they will be cleaning your cabin does not prove productive, a call to guest relations or the hotel director should.

To tell you the truth though, Carnival does not comprehend how to treat guests in suites (any level) like suite guests. Wow, you get priority embarkation with a suite... impressive (not), as the list ENDS there!

I still vote the Owner's Suite balcony as preferred over any other category of the ship - but that is just an opinion - nothing else.

I completely agree with you. The room is fabulous, even if you have to make your own bed ;)

I think my disappointment was based on past expieriences. We stay in anything from a 1A to a GS and have always had great service, I was just looking for at least the same that we'd had on previous cruises. Sounds like it could be exclusive to the rooms on that ship.

My pleasure. Hey, that is only TWO WEEKS away! Post back to this thread after you get back and let everyone know how it went!

OK... Just got back from 3 day on Sensation. Stayed in the Owner's Suite. FANTASTIC!! The room is awesome. When we arrived at the port, we were hussled immediately to VIP check in. We were taken to the front of all lines, then given our key cards. We were then escorted to the suite and given a short tour. The place was loaded with gifts for us... bottle of wine, strawberries, a cake for my birthday, decorations... all thanks to Carnival and the casino host. We have been on 20 cruises... usually RCCL suites or NCL suites. This was BY FAR the best service we ever had. We were welcomed by name in the dining room and casino. For those people who lke to find complaints to mask the fact that they just don't want to spend the money... There was no noise problem from above or from the pool area. The room temperature was perfect. The service was above and beyond!!! The cabin steward's name is Maria... wonderful!! We even got TWO towel animals per day!! When the ship got back, we were the VERY FIRST off (escorted.) Total time to disenbark? FOUR MINUTES! So for the complainers... either people don't want to be nice to you or you're just cheap... LOL. TOM... you were right! It was awesome and worth every penny!!

Maria is one of the reasons that we book the Sensation. We have had her on our last four cruises and she is just amazing! A real gem. We are going on the Inspiration for our next two cruises, and I told Carnival that if we could choose to take a steward from ship to ship with us, it would be Maria! She is just so sweet and such a hard worker.

So glad you had a good time on your cruise and that you enjoyed the OS. :)

Got an email fri offering the OS but with no other info so emailed back and asked for price. I got 3 emails back today telling me it was $1400 to upgrade and lots of pics of the OS.

We are sailing on the Sensation Sept 12th for 4 days in U98 which is the Cat of Suite we usually get. We also usually get strawberries , wine and cakes courtesy of Carnival .Am quite happy with that suite but would be nice to try the OS.

I emailed her back and asked if the price could be less as Hubby and i Gambled big time in March this year on the Miracle plus last Sept on the Liberty. You have to be cheeky and ask if you want it cheaper , tho i dont think it will work but its worth a try. :)
