how much would it cost to take a taxi from the Splendor in Long Beach to the LAX area? We are not going directly to the airport after debarking the ship.

It's quite a ways. I have never taken a taxi that route but my guess is $50 at least.

Victory is probably about right...we're not a big "taxi town" so they kind of take advantage of that...

When we were on the Splendor in August, we did not do a cab but it was quoted as between $75 and $80.

I've not been to the west coast before so I'm not familiar with the distances. How would you recommend getting from the pier to LA? We are planning on staying in a hotel close to the LAX before flying out early the next morning.

I thought there might be an easier way of doing it than taking the Carnival transfer to LAX and then getting a shuttle to a hotel.

Unless something has changed in the last week or so, Carnival does not offer transfers from Long Beach.

The most economical way is to use one of the shuttle services, think they were about $17/person.

This is good to know, as we are planning on flying into LAX and then take a TAXI to Long Beach. But I think we'll do the shuttle thing instead. I just have to find a hotel that has a shuttle to the ship. Does anyone know of a hotel that does this in Long Beach?

Check out the west coast hope ports blog for Long Beach. There are many close but just a couple that have free shuttles. We stayed on the Queen Mary when we went.
