Bathrooms at port

I knew I'd have a couple more crazy questions before our cruise. :o

We're setting sail a week from tomorrow on the CB to Canada & New England. We've been reading the reviews regarding the long lines to get off the ship at various ports. My mother-in-law is wondering if, at each port, there will be restrooms close by. She's thinking, after two hours of waiting to get off the ship, she's gonna have to go.;) Our ports include Halifax, Saint John, Bar Harbor, Boston and newport.

Never had to wait that long to get off the ship, but in Boston, Bar Harbor, and Halifax - facilities close by. Don't know about St John. Bathrooms right by the theater before you get off the ship also. Newport is Rhode Island - I think they have bathrooms too!:p

Generally there is a restroom right before you get off the ship, so when she's almost to the front of the line she can use it. As far as in ports, ever since I went to Europe, I always carry a big wad of tissues, or better yet the end of a roll of toilet paper with me, just in case. I wasn't a girl scout for nothing:)

I've never experienced a 2 hour wait to get off the ship! If there is any delay at all it's because the captain has announced some bureaucratic delay in getting the ship signed in, and I'd wait in my cabin until he announced that people could start to get off.

We have never had any delay even close to 2 hours - but I am a bathroom freak also - so that is a priority for me. In 95% of the terminal buildings, there are bathrooms readily available.

Usually, on the ship there is no bathroom by the gang way - depending on which deck it is (4 or below) ...so you may have to use the one in your room or casino, etc before leaving the ship. I have these all mapped out in the first hour on board - so I know exactly where they are:D

Good luck with this - we were on the 107 day WC and I never had an issue - but like the other 'girl scout' always was prepared with my own supply of TP for the more rural ports.

Have not found two hour lines getting off the ship at a port even a tender one. I do know people line up early, we usually wait about 15 minutes once to doors open to get off the ship to go down.

Most places off the ship do have bathrooms. Have used them. That keeps you in the town longer so you can spend money. If you do not have an early tour booked just wait a while to go down after the Captain announces you can leave the ship.

The only time I have had any type of wait is when we booked an excursion through Princess. They have you sit in the theater until your excursion time. I understand that they have to do this to ensure that everyone is able to disembark in time for the tour, especially in tender ports. Last sailing we didn't book any excursions because we had been to the same ports on prior trips. We just walked off the ship with no wait at all.

Okay, see, I was thinking the two-hour deal we read in one review was a little overstated.

I told her the same thing about going in her room and not lining up if there is a line, but she freaks if she can have water and all times and a place to pee. :p

We are taking ship excursions, so that might be an issue. Still, all but one of our excursions are slated for the first half hour of our port time. So sounds like we should be fine.

Thanks, all, for your responses!

They give you a time to meet in the theater. My experience is that it has never been more than 30 minutes. It is very organized and once they call your group you pretty much just swipe your cruise card and you're off the ship. The photographers taking pictures as passengers disembark is what holds up the line.
