mpk218 Posted October 9, 2009 #26 Share Posted October 9, 2009 Hi, we are going on November Gem cruise and staying in a suite. I did not see "hair dryer" on the list, but remember thinking it was available. Is that correct? Thanks! Yes , they have hair dryers ..
OldFaithful Posted October 9, 2009 #27 Share Posted October 9, 2009 I thought so, but in all that list of soap, shampoo and latte's, it was not mentioned! So much to learn, so little time...

big green Posted October 9, 2009 #29 Share Posted October 9, 2009 Hello Everyone,After extensive searches I have not been able to get much info on what exactly is the "Concierge Lounge" benefit. Are there any complimentary snacks and or beverages served here? etc. Thanks in advance for your responses There is no formal concierge lounge on board NCL ships where there are complimentary snacks or beverages..There is usually one location where the concierge hangs out to talk to you and make your reservations etc.--that is what is referred to as the concierge lounge on NCL. Da-Painter Posted January 11, 2010 #31 Share Posted January 11, 2010 We were just on the Star thru the Canal, Dec 6-19, and had Belky as our concierge. I dont know if she had a location on the ship, we just called her, and she arrived at our cabin to take care of things for us. There are also fresh flowers, fruit bowl, a working clock, but they did away with the chocolates at the nite bed turndown. Cagneys was great.;)

watchdiva Posted February 6, 2011 #40 Share Posted February 6, 2011 On day one, ask your butler for the breakfast/lunch menus from Cagney's and he/she will be glad to deliver them to your suite (we usually ask that ALL specialty restaurant menus be delivered to the suite and then return them at the end of the cruise). Once Cagney's opens for breakfast (I want to say 7 AM) anything they offer can be delivered to your suite - I'm a huge fan of their crabcakes benedict and DH loves their french toast and we've had no problem having it delivered. Same with lunch - no problem with delivery! The shrimp cocktail appetize has HUGE shrimp - a few of them with Cagney's carrot cake for dessert and life is GOOD:D. coffeecat Posted February 6, 2011 #42 Share Posted February 6, 2011
The perks sound wonderful. Quick questions: What is the Star Bar Day Lounge? Thanks, AJ
If you remember Cagney's on the Pearl there was one section of the restaurant located near a kitchen (as you face the hostess desk this is off to the right. Off to the left, there was the Star Bar lounge with a bar and seating for cocktails (not meal seating) and then through this room was another dining area of Cagney's opened for lunch and breakfast. The star bar and additional seating were opened for dinner for all passengers. So essentially, the Star bar by day is where the concierge hangs out at times (esp. during breakfast and lunch). This was the same set-up as the Jewel and Gem...can't remember about the Dawn/Sky so not sure what the Star would be like. Other than concierge meeting groups of passengers to leave the ship while in ports, and walking through there for breakfast/lunch, I haven't really used the space during the day. Hopefully this all makes sense. Coffeecat
Sea Monster 2 Posted February 6, 2011 #43 Share Posted February 6, 2011 Hi folks-- Can anyone confirm if the toiletries listed earlier in this thread are still correct? teacher_md Posted February 6, 2011 #44 Share Posted February 6, 2011 Thanks for the info, Coffeecat! I actually found some good info and a photo of the NCL Star's Star Bar Lounge. I put the link below for anyone who wants some good, current photos of the Star. Excited to check her out. Probably wouldn't choose her for an Alaskan itinerary without the front observation deck, but for our honeymoon in the Caribbean it will be fine :) -aj http://fromthedeckchair.blogspot.com/2010/10/focus-onnorwegian-star-part-ii.html

I just looked at the webiste-she looks awesome! Similar to the Dawn in some aspects which we just loved. Which suite did you book again? The photos have me interested in booking the Star at some point! I think you made a great choice for your honeymoon. You will love love love Cagney's...that grilled asparagus dish is wonderful. teacher_md Posted February 6, 2011 #47 Share Posted February 6, 2011 Coffeecat - We booked one of the new 12th Floor SF cabins. They have a little sitting area, a balcony with table and chairs and a nice bathroom. Also, they look pretty big. We opted for this stateroom instead of the Aft Balcony Penthouse (SF) on the Pearl. Gotta get an aft balcony someday tho! A agree - the Star looks really nice in those photos :) - AJ
