grak Posted October 18, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2009 I'm sure this has been addressed but couldn't fine it. Is there somewhere to purchase a couple bottles of wine near the San Diego pier? Thanks!
lovevacadays Posted October 18, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 18, 2009 Not that I can think of. There are no grocery stores, etc right by the pier. It's primarily restaurants and sightseeing things like ships there. Are you staying in San Diego the night before or flying in the same day? If you are flying in the same day I would suggest you bring a bottle of wine from home. If you are flying in the day/night before you may be able to get wine close to your hotel. Splinter Posted October 18, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 18, 2009 Yes, answered many times before here: Across the street at the Holiday Inn on the Bay there is a small store with a very limited selection of wine. There is wine (also beer, liquor, and water) at the RiteAid drug store on Kettner & Ashe about 3 blocks from the pier. Otherwise, if you jump on the Trolley (light rail) or take a cab or pedi-cab to the Gaslamp Quarter, you would have the option of CostPlus World Market (wine only). There is also a Ralph's supermarket on Market and 2nd which will have a full selection. It is about 10 blocks from the pier. You could also take a cab to Liberty Station shopping area WEST of the airport and go to Trader Joe's.
