Chennai Posted October 21, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 21, 2009 We are traveling on HAL from Rio to Santiago in December and will stop in Uruguay, Buenos Aires, Falkland Islands, then around the tip to Santiago, Chile. The cruise line offers multiple excursions and I don't know which ones are better. They are all very costly so would also consider hiring our own taxi and going places by ourselves. Which ports are feasible to do this? We are veteran travelers and don't like to be too extravagant (i.e. we're cheap). Any advise would be appreciated. Fredr Posted October 21, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 21, 2009 Hello, I will try to help you but I need to know the ports you will be visiting. My DW and I sailed from Buenos Aires to San Diego in April/May of 2009. We did not visit the Falkland Islands.
Fabian52 Posted October 21, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 21, 2009 You should probably ask this question over on the South American board. You will get alot of answers over there.
DMH15 Posted October 22, 2009 #4 Share Posted October 22, 2009 My mom and I just walked all about in Stanley. It was charming. On my SA cruise, I did 4 Excursions through the cruiseline. The best was the Antarctic Landing... Pricey but so worth it. Puerto Montt went to Aysen and it was very nice. In Puerto Chacabuco did Rio Simpson. It was just ok. Went to an Estancia in Buenos Aires. Loved it. You will love the glacier viewing. It was beautiful.
FUN33 Posted October 22, 2009 #5 Share Posted October 22, 2009 Be sure to book the Tigre River Delta tour in Buenos Aires; one of the best tours we have ever taken on any cruise.
