Transfer from miami airport to F/L

Can anyone recommend a way to get from Miami Airport to Fort Lauderdale for a pre night cruise. We are also looking for a hotel for that night in a suitable location for a short taxi ride on 30th Nov.

In January '09 we flew into Miamithen rented a Hertz car for drive to Fort Lauderdale - where we spent the night -- including drop off rental was just under $45 - it was good to have wheels for the afternoon/evening as well as morning of cruise day - after dropping off car at FLL we took taxi to pier - $15. I cannot recommend the motel we stayed at -but there are plenty to choose from - anyway, total of $60 transportation cost was best deal, as it gave us mobility in Fort Lauderdale.

Taxi ride is about 45 minutes (depending upon time of day/traffic) and costs about $80 plus tip.
