switching rooms triple to double during cruise - how strict?

We have a toddler who will be sleeping in a pack and play sailing on the Pride. So we had to book a triple room for us and the baby. The grandparents and in the two cabins next door and their cabins have a connecting door. We really would like to have a connecting door cabin with the baby. So we would like to get on the ship and then move one set of grandparents to the triple occupancy room and move the three of us with the pack and play (bringing our own) to one of the double occupancy rooms.

Does anyone have a feeling for how this would go over? How strict is Carnival? We will have the triple booked - we would just have the third person in the room next door which is technically a double.

Thanks

ps - we did try to find a triple with a connecting door, but there were none.

As long as the people who switch rooms pay the tab that they accure on the sail and sign cards I dont see why it would be a problem. The cards, if you cant get them switched through Carnival at Embarkation, will still send the charges to the original room, but as long as everyone agrees to pay what they charge, usually itemized very well on the bill, it shouldnt be a problem if everyone keeps their original cards and just switches rooms. However, I just realized entering the room would be a problem, and the ship at port, you would have to continually organize a key switch for that. The other issue would be delivery of excursion tickets to the right people! Just some thoughts, however un-organized they may be right now!

not a problem to get the cards switched at the pursers desk once onboard. they do not care at all who sleeps in each room, and easily can fix cards accordingly. we changed around last cruise to get all rooms at past guest rate. only a few minutes to have cards re done.

I agree as long as the room stewards are the same. If they are different and you leave the auto tips in place, the steward serving the 3 would be cheated, whereas the steward now serving you and DH would be overpaid. Once onboard you should be able to determine if the stewards are the same and pay your tips accordingly.

Good luck and enjoy your cruise.

Excellent. Knowing that we can switch around easily, I think we will put the correct adults in each room and then put the baby in with the grands and move her to our room. She doesn't need a room key, so that would eliminate the room key issue.

Thanks!!
