Red Sea magic December 2009

Recommended Posts

Hi,

It really depends on how much you drink and when you book.

For example we tend to book early and be able to choose the cabin we want and get the AI package included. But then we pay a higher price for the cruise but it is all paid for and we don't need to worry about extras apart from excursions.

But last time I worked out when we got back that if we'd paid for all drinks it would have only cost us half the price of the package. So if we'd booked last minute and paid a cheaper price for the holiday we would have saved us money.

Also bear in mind it will be hot out in Red Sea and you might drink more (not necessarily alchohol).

Sorry it's a bit long winded.

I'd agree with Berwyn it depends how much you drink...I think the normal price for All Inclusive is £169 per week per person and everyone in the party has to buy it...remember the drinks on Celebration are not expensive around £3.00 for glass of wine, cocktail, £1.00 for coke, fanta, etc. also remember you won't be on board if you're on an excursion so that would be a whole day not buying a drink.

We wouldn't pay the full price for it ....but sometimes you can get it free or even for 69 or 49 pounds then it is worth it I think!!

That coincides with our assessment too, jenny. If you get the AI as an early booking freebie, that's great :D or if can buy it at a discounted rate, then it's worth it :) But we don't drink enough even with coffees, soft drinks and virgin cocktails on top of our alcoholic drinks to make it worthwhile. I suppose if you think your drinks bill might approach the cost of buying the package it may be worth it just to have the peace of mind of knowing you're not going to have that cost at the end of your holiday - but it's a personal choice based mainly on your drinking habits.

We buy a nice red wine at dinner which retails in Tesco at about £7 a bottle. It costs us £12 on board which we think isn't bad compared with what we often pay in restaurants - sometimes for less good wines too! When we were on Spirit recently they offerred a two-for-one offer on certain drinks at specified times (usually just before the shows in the show lounge) which we thought was a very good deal - but sadly that wasn't available on Celebration. It didn't spoil our holiday though!!!! :)
