MamaParrotHead, I don't cruise in May but I do cruise in both March and July. (Although if I am lucky I am in a contest here at work to win a trip to Maui that is in May) I am sure we will all help you loose. I want to loose about 17 by around Mayand 10 to 12 by March. That will be the hard one.

Where in Iowa do you live?

I am originally from Cedar Rapids, we moved to Vegas in 1978. DH is from Alta, IA We met in Cedar Falls when he was going to UNI.

I don't know when the regular weigh in day is but I've lost 3 lbs this week. Been exercising everyday, and drinking lots of water:eek:, sure is hard getting all that water in (100 oz), I'm spending a lot of time in the bathroom:rolleyes: . On my diet I eat several small meals a day, and I was even able to eat out twice this week and stay on the plan:). If I keep this up, I should be able to make my goal in plenty of time for my cruise.

Hi, Lynn,

Remember me??? I'm one of the LYNN's from last year's June 5th Navigator cruise. We were all supposed to meet at the Meet & Mingle, but I don't think you were there. I was looking for you.

Anyway, I'm going on the Navigator on May 14th THIS year. Is there any chance that's the cruise YOU are going on? Wouldn't that be funny?

I can't wait to hear what cruise you're taking!!!

Hi Lynn!!

No, we're going on the Explorer of the Seas this year. We did the EOS in 2003 too and loved it. We also loved the Navigator! Heck, we've loved all the ships so far!!

Are you doing eastern carib or western? We're doing eastern, but we're going to St. Maarten instead of Labadee.

Hi, Lynn,

We're doing western just because we never have. I really know NOTHING about that itinerary other than I've never been there and I have been to St. Thomas, etc. many, many times over the years. I love St. Thomas!

I haven't been on the Explorer, but a friend of mine has ... twice, in fact. She loves that ship. Maybe that will be next for me. I just felt an urge to do the Navigator one more time since I was sooooo happy on that cruise.

Darn! I wish we could have met and said hello. That would have been great. A year late but better than never <g>.

Did you ever get to meet up with anybody from the Meet & Mingle group last time? I think Connie probably linked up with quite a few people.

Here's to two wonderful cruises this year ... yours and mine. AND ... everyone else's of course, too.

Lynn

Mamakaiz,

Good for you and congratulations on your 3 lb. loss this week. I did well last week but backslid a bit this week. Tomorrow starts another week and another chance to improve my efforts. I know exercise is the key and I have to get back into a routine. May will be here before we know it!

CarolC,

Weekend wasn't so great. Wasn't able to exercise, tied up a muscle in my neck somehow? (hope it wasn't from working out on the gazelle, I tend to get real agressive on that thing:o ) will see a chiropractor on Wed. Anyway, I gained 3 lbs. :( . Also went to the Greektown Casino in Detroit and won $360! Went all day w/o eating then had a large supper that evening (I know better!) But I did eat a salad, grilled chicken, steamed veggies, and had water to drink.(Applebees, love that place) I'm supposed to eat several small meals throughout the day (protein with a carb) as this keeps my metabolism stoked and burns calories. I'm also supposed to drink lots of water, as this also helps to burn calories. I'll do better this week!

I don't have any cruise planned right now - we just bought a new vehicle and are a little strapped for cash.

But I do have a goal to lose 15 pounds by May 28. That's the last day of school and then I'm on summer break. I want to be fit and ready to have some fun over the summer.

Hi Everyone,

i am also a may cruise i will be on VOS on may 7th, i started my diet last week, BOY it is harder then i thought!!! I have gained almost 40lbs since i got marred in aug of 2003 so it is time to take the weight off...

I went on a cruise last Aug 04, and i was not happy that way i looked i was always with large t-shirts and shorts when it was dress up time i was always covered with a shall, & bathing suit time i was always cover with a large tshirt.. When i went on my honeymoon cruise in aug 03 i was happy how i looked:), Now since i booked this cruise for May i need to do something for myself, I have been watching what i have been eating these last couple of weeks i belong to Curves, {they do help } though to exercize it is hard the weather here has been so bad lately so curves is about 15-20min away from my house and i hate to go there with bad weather, then i get home i dont want to work out :winter is so hard: then April cant wait to start walking....

I need Friends to keep me going so i can feel like i did 17months ago!!!

I have a weekly work out weight chart {took from my curves book} i dont have a scale at home though it is time to get one!!!

My goal for May is: 15-20ibs to start off with them i want to be 50lbs lighter by October my 27th birthday that is my goal}

I should start the Weight Chart Program here on this board then everyone can join in and we can help eachother out!!!!

Hi Everyone!

I've been trying to lose for my May 15 Millenium cruise since last May. So far, I'm at 63.7 pounds with Jenny Craig! (Don't confuse me with Kirstie Alley PLEEAASSEE)

I can't exercise due to some physical problems I have so it has been slow and steady. The food is pretty good and I love having a one on one counselor to help me every week when I weigh in. I hope to lose at least 90 or 100 pounds before the cruise.

If you need support, just let me know. I'll go ahead and subscribe to this thread.

Good luck to all!

Karin

Hi everyone, I am new to cruisecritic posted on my own that I was starting LA weightloss tomorrow!

Looks like a good supportive group was started for May sailings, mind if I join?

My goal is 30 lbs by May 28 - I am slightly held back on exercise by a sprained ankle but I have been trying to focus on my eating! Not so good the last few days here (blaming it on the recent blizzard in the NE)

Well I will be on this thread hopefully sharing some good wgt. loss news and offering support.

We are on RCCL Navigator on May 28 - DH and (2) DS's.

I'm stalling at 15 pounds lost in 3 weeks on the program (WW) and still making my goals of doing 1 hour of aerobics/strength training (jazzercise) 4 times a week. I dropped the pounds very quickly in the beginning and haven't seen much weight loss in the past 2 weeks (though I'm just ending my "monthly visitor" time and hoping that has something to do with it).

Lestrela...best of luck on reaching your goals. my birthday is the day before yours (10/26) and that's a great way to look at the weight loss...some now and lots by your birthday. may have to join you on that journey as well! andt hanks for volunteering to count us down.

Karin and Carolyn, welcome, best of luck and thanks for the offers of support.

Did anyone else hear about this RIDICULOUS factoid all the news shows were talking about today? it stated that for a woman to lose weight she needs to do 90 minutes of hard exercise a DAY. 60 a day for weight loss maintenance and 30 minutes a day to remain marginally healthy. UGH. can't wait for the next "study" to contradict that one so I don't have to keep hearing it as I'm struggling to do the 60 minutes x4.

Hello, you losers (and I mean that in the best way!!!!)

I'd love to join you - my cruise starts June 11, though, is that close enough? I started with a group at work 2 weeks ago, a lifestyle management class. Emphasis is on sensible changes in diet and physical activity that you can keep with you the rest of your life. The first night we talked about the little things that we don't do anymore because we have so many conveniences in our life now. For example, power windows in cars instead of cranking them down!! Amazing when you think of all the little things like that.

Anyway, I have made several small changes to my physical activity:

* I no longer take the closest parking space anywhere - drive on down at least 2 or 3, and you'll get a few more steps in!

* I use a pedometer to count steps - my group is recommending starting at 4,000/day and increasing by 200/day starting this week.

* A structured eating plan of SOME kind - I lost 30# on Atkins 2 years ago (had surgery x 2 since then and gained it all back  ) so I lean towards a low carb diet, but am watching what kind of fat I eat also.

Anyway, I look forward to chatting with all of you. What day are we weighing/posting in the weekly format, Liz? My goal for the 16 weeks would be 30 lbs.

Connie.
