museumlover Posted October 30, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2009 The Cruise Critic boards are a gold mine for cruisers, especially first-time cruisers like myself. Besides Cruise Critic, what other online resources are "must reads" with info that every cruisers needs?
trophy_23 Posted October 30, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 30, 2009 Browse here and the cruise line sites and aside from that, 'google' is your friend!!! But I have found this forum to be the best resource of them all, so your in the right place!
JanineM Posted October 30, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 30, 2009 Absolutely the cruise line's website and FAQ section. A lot of the questions asked here are already answered on those sites. For weather - www dot weather dot com. You can get seasonal averages.
Rare cruisemom42 Posted October 30, 2009 #4 Share Posted October 30, 2009 If you are looking for more in-depth information on a particular port of call, Tripadvisor.com has forums for every major city/location and many have local experts who either know the answer or will find it out for you. (Tripadvisor is a sister site to Cruise Critic.)
museumlover Posted October 30, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted October 30, 2009 Thanks for the mention of TripAdvisor, cruise lines websites, and weather.com. I will mention Fodors and Frommers. Any more?
eandj Posted October 30, 2009 #6 Share Posted October 30, 2009 Is cruiseclues.com still out there? How about cruise-chat.com? I just google what I need. Or second to cc is tripadvisor.com Use thier FORUM board. There are excellent residents/visitors from EVERYWHERE who are considered experts. I got so much relevant and up to date info from them for our Med cruise. Great for local restaurant favorites, transportation info, ways to save money etc.
museumlover Posted October 30, 2009 Author #7 Share Posted October 30, 2009 I will check on cruiseclues and cruisechat. Has anyone ever used cruisemates? So far, this forum (cruisecritic) and TripAdvisor are the the best, by far. Any more ideas?
Rare cruisemom42 Posted October 30, 2009 #8 Share Posted October 30, 2009 Since I know you are headed to Europe on your cruise, I'll also recommend this one: http://www.europeportreviews.com/ Although it's a little harder to navigate, there is some good info on DIY in some ports. For example, I've used their posted directions on getting to the train station in Naples -- very detailed.
