lk4xits Posted January 7, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2005 I am motivated by the Hand shaking thread concerning whether its appropriate to shake hands or not re the norwich virus. I sure hope it is, however I was quite appreciative of the many sanitizing stations that were near many food and casino areas on my last cruise to the Mexican Riviera on the NCL Star. I will be doing transatlantic on the Brilliance 4/29/05 and I do hope RCCL will have those bacterial spray devices all over the ship. Passengers appreciated them greatly on NCL. SA Traveler Posted January 8, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2005 They had them at the dining room and buffet on the Rhapsody in February. I dind't notice in the casino. We were recently on the Galaxy and there were none. I was surprised. I wonder if they are none on any Celebrity ships.
lk4xits Posted January 8, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted January 8, 2005 The sanitizers were next to the entrance way into the casino and at entrance to the the buffet lines. We also saw them near poolside and associated casual dining areas. I didnt see any in the formal dining rooms. They seemed very well placed. .A very good idea.
FlorenceItaly Posted January 8, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 8, 2005 Unfortunately, NO hand sanitizing stations..same true for the Mariner the month before. I cruised Celebrity, Horizon Oct 31-Nov 11...NO hand sanitizing stations. Of my cruises last year, I only found Holland America to offer these stations...LOVE THEM, and do not understand why ALL the cruiselines don't offer them. Madshadow Posted January 8, 2005 #6 Share Posted January 8, 2005 I have noticed these on my most recent cruise. They were at the entrance of the windjammer, the cafe promenade, on the fourth floor (near the guest relation desk). Thats where i saw them (on the explorer of the seas)
Arizona Cruz Chic Posted January 8, 2005 #7 Share Posted January 8, 2005 I wish they were on every ship for every cruise:) ....although I have noticed not everyone uses them.:( ***
hstrybuf Posted January 8, 2005 #8 Share Posted January 8, 2005 I like having the hand sanitizing stations around the ship and upon reboarding the ships at port. Not many have them that I've seen so I carry a tiny bottle of Purell in my pocket.
jwlane Posted January 8, 2005 #9 Share Posted January 8, 2005 re the norwich virus. Is it different from the Norwalk virus?
phlydude Posted January 8, 2005 #10 Share Posted January 8, 2005 On my cruise on NCL, in the middle of the week they started making everyone who was entering the buffet line areas and everyone who came back on ship after being in port wipe their hands with sanitary wipe cloths. This eliminated the "not everyone uses them" problem. While it was a good idea, they had an odor to them that while wasn't unpleasant, wasn't pleasant either. You didn't want to eat that piece of the roll your hand touched for fear of transfer of the chemicals or anti-bacterial agent into your mouth. lk4xits Posted January 8, 2005 Author #11 Share Posted January 8, 2005 Im not sure of the official name of the virus. I did note that the bacterial agent dried in a few seconds without use of a napkin or towel. It must have been in an alcohol base. Not much is squirted on your hands and your rub them together afterward. The device is like a soap dispenser just tap your hands up a little clear liquid comes out and you rub hands.
