Hello, last time I was on a cruise and we went to another private island, it was so crowded when we got in, that we left and went back to the ship. How is cococay island with celebrity? any suggestions and can you actually get a chair to sit in. Is the water nice and any jelly fish

Been there twice before and going again next week. We've never had a problem with crowds except at the lunch on the island and even that wasn't too bad. If there are too many people at the beach, just walk a bit and find another area. There is a terriffic nature trail on Cococay and it leads to the other side of the island with a hammock and chairs. nobody ever goes over there.

When you get onto the island, the 1st beach you come to will be packed...it always is....keep on walking, and you'll find less crowded conditions and plenty of lounge chairs, shade, sun.....whatever!

Most folks won't walk a step farther than they absolutely must, so the plop in the 1st space they come to!

Yes, Cococay can get pretty crowded, and the other responders are right: it gets less crowded the farther you move away from the tender station. Less people are willing to carry all their beach gear to the far ends of the island.

It also depends on how big a ship you're sailing in on--the island can only hold so many people. Basic rule: big ship = more passengers = more crowded. For example, the Majesty or the Monarch of the Seas will be dumping off around 2700 passengers there; whereas, the newer and bigger Freedom of the Seas will unload an additional 1000 beachgoers in the same port.

And as far as Celebrity goes, I'm Cococay is privately owned by Royal Caribbean and only RCI ships will be going there. However, Celebrity DOES visit Royal Caribbean's other private port in Haiti--Labadee--which is actually very similar to Cococay.

RCI owns Celebrity &, yes, Celebrity ships stop at Cococay ... I'll be there w/ Celebrity Mercury the end of this month.

What time is lunch served on Cococay? I'm trying to plan my activity around it.

And since people have brought up walking away from the tender here, do the waiters go to the more remote parts of the island?

Sorry, didn't look at the time.

Not quite sure what you're asking. Lunch is a buffet.

Celebrity ships do use Cococay as Celebrity is owned by RCI. RCI also has a short term lease arrangement with Carnival for select Carnival ships to stop at Cococay.

Only if you have a private cabana -- in that case, both lunch and drinks are brought to you!

People posted earlier that waiters walk by and offered drinks (for a price, of course) or take drink orders. I wanted to know if they were only right by the tender. And my lunch question is what time is the buffet served?
