Bolshoi Posted November 16, 2009 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2009 I am in the process of booking the Whisper for a 7-day cruise in the Baltic, including 3 nights in port at St. Petersburg. Has anyone on this board had experience with private tour companies there? Silverseas does not any shore excursions on their web for this cruise (yet). Many thanks. Rare TLCOhio Posted November 16, 2009 #2 Share Posted November 16, 2009 I am in the process of booking the Whisper for a 7-day cruise in the Baltic, including 3 nights in port at St. Petersburg. Has anyone on this board had experience with private tour companies there? Silverseas does not any shore excursions on their web for this cruise (yet). Many thanks. There are four or five major firms that do private tours in St. Petersburg. We used Anastasia and it worked out super well. I would strongly suggest going to the Northern Europe and Baltics section here on Cruise Critics. You will see lots of posting there on this specific subject. You should also use the SEARCH FUNCTION to check key words such as "Anastasia" and other notes for the key providers on such tours and the many options there in that wonderful city. If you have three days in St. Petersburg, there is also the option that many of the cruise line offer of a day by air in going to and back from Moscow. We did that and it was wonderful. There is lots to see in St. Petersburg and a private tour makes all of the difference in doing it in a way to fit your personal needs and travel style. Do the research on St. Petersburg, in advance!! You have lots of great potential place to visit and tour. Reading a good book like Eyewitness will help you better prepare for what fits your interests. THANKS! Enjoy! wripro Posted November 16, 2009 #3 Share Posted November 16, 2009 Check out both Denrus and Red October. These are the top firms doing private tours in St.Petersburg. You can design your own itinerary with them and you will be very happy. Not only will the tours be private but will probably wind up costing less than if you see the same things through SS. Bolshoi Posted November 17, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted November 17, 2009 Thank-you for the responses. I hadn't even thought about checking the Baltic board here at CC.
