worfsmom Posted January 9, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2005 Long sleeved periwinkle blue dress......... not formal. What color of shoes do you all suggest? I'm stumped other than having a pair dyed.
DesrtDrmr Posted January 9, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 9, 2005 How about a metallic colored shoe? You could wear silver, gold, bronze or pewter...........then wear them with other dresses too. Or one of those shoes with the clear plastic upper and heel? You could wear those with everything and anything.............
Freezin' in Minny Posted January 9, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2005 I just purchased a periwinkle color dress, except mine is formal. I bought a pair of silver shoes and they compliment the color rather nicely. The nice thing is they also go with my second formal dress which is red. IMO you can't go wrong with silver...very versatile.
lovetocruiserccl Posted January 10, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 10, 2005 Silver. I have the same color gown. Silver sets it off quite well.
Guest Time2gocruzn Posted January 10, 2005 #5 Share Posted January 10, 2005 "clear" shoes are your popular and look nice with all color dresses..here are a few examples... http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/1208360/c/303.html http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/417246/c/303.html http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/2868285/c/303.html ooh here is a blue and clear one... http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/1587639/c/16413.html Anyways you get the idea..if you want to see more..go to that site click on womens dress shoes..narrow search by color and choose clear GL! wantacruise Posted January 12, 2005 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2005 I also think silver will look great with periwinkle blue!
voyageur Posted January 12, 2005 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2005 You mentioned that your dress is long sleeves and not formal, so I think rather than silver, I would choose black patent leather. Either something in a strappy sandal or simple pump.... only my opinion. (my other choice would be a slightly off-white)
DesrtDrmr Posted January 12, 2005 #8 Share Posted January 12, 2005 I was thinking about your conundrum again............you could also use taupe colored shoes with your dress. With stockings, your shoes would kind of visually disappear.......... :)
Jane110 Posted January 12, 2005 #9 Share Posted January 12, 2005 I agree that a metallic is the way to go, with pewter being my number one choice, silver #2. Gold or bronze might look "off" with periwinkle - I think you'd need to take the dress with you to the store and compare for that one. Wear taupe so that they "disappear"? Not me, I wear gorgeous shoes, I'd *never* want them to disappear! No, no don't dye to match. You'll look like a wedding party escapee! LOL! ladycaveat Posted January 12, 2005 #10 Share Posted January 12, 2005 I agree with everyone that said silver. I too have a periwinkle blue dress (though mine is formal) and I wear the cutest silver strappy sandles with it and it looks fantastic.

sandytoesrose Posted January 17, 2005 #12 Share Posted January 17, 2005 Metalic shoes would be excellent for formal dress. For a less formal look, I'd wear bone or taupe.
Rare KKB Posted January 17, 2005 #13 Share Posted January 17, 2005 Those would be a bit dated. I agreed with the silver or clear. Happy cruising! Kristin
Kallen Posted January 17, 2005 #14 Share Posted January 17, 2005 You could also try pearl gray if you can find anything. Kerry

voyageur Posted January 18, 2005 #16 Share Posted January 18, 2005 Those would be a bit dated.I agreed with the silver or clear. Happy cruising! Kristin They are not "dated", they're classic. Dare to be different... "less is more" You don't want to say "hey, look at my feet"... the dress is NOT formal.
worfsmom Posted January 18, 2005 Author #17 Share Posted January 18, 2005 still haven't decided........... probably the silver, but it will have to be very strappy........ I'll probably break my ankle in a very strappy shoe. The dress arrives next week, so will try matching with what I have, then go out in search.......... Ahhhhhh I do love to shop for shoes!!!!!! DesrtDrmr Posted January 19, 2005 #18 Share Posted January 19, 2005 You could try silver strappy LOW heels.............check out Zappo.com, and also, there is a shoe site associated with ebags.com. I saw the link when I was at ebags, but didn't check it out.
lmmn Posted January 20, 2005 #19 Share Posted January 20, 2005 I also have a dress this color and I was not sure about shoes either. I tried on several different shoes, and the ones that looked best were a strappy sandal in a neutral or skin color.

Ehpride Posted January 22, 2005 #23 Share Posted January 22, 2005 Just make sure to get clear shoes that don't have closed toes. I tried a pair on for Prom about 4 years ago because they would have looked awesome with my dress but I put them back when the toe area fogged up!! I tried a pair on for Prom about 4 years ago because they would have looked awesome with my dress but I put them back when the toe area fogged up!! LMBO! Foggin up the toes...too funny. The pair I have are like a high heeled sandal..open toed with just the strip over the top of my foot and the buckle around the ankle. The heel is kind of chunky and I think that is the coolest part..the way the entire heel is clear. My friend joked and said that we should put blue colored water in the heel and float a tiny cruise ship in there:D
