Stealing from the cruise ship

Pickpocketing what...My S&S card.....LOL....

I got pick pocketed on the Freedom back in 2007. I'm even positive as to who did it but I didn't realize it at the time and I couldn't prove it.

I had hit a small jackpot of 300 or so and went to the casino bar after cashing in my credits. A couple who we had become friendly with were at the bar also and we were chatting about my winnings.

I had just taken the bills and put them in my pocket instead of my little purse. After having a drink I was getting ready to go back to another slot machine and the woman of this couple came up behind me and sister and real firmly put her arm around my shoulder and said congratulations and good luck. Well, I thought that was pretty forward and was kind of taken back by her being in my space so I just said thanks and went about my business.

I played the slots for another 15 minutes then went back to get sister and on to the purser's desk to pay my winnings against my S&S balance.

And you guessed it when I got to the pursers desk I no longer had the money in my pocket. I'm sure there wasn't any way it could have fallen out.

So lesson learned.......my cash always goes in a little zippered wallet inside a zippered pocket inside my little travel purse that I wear diagonally across my shoulder.

Mine goes between the girls, if you know what I mean. Few are blazen enough to stick a hand there uninvited.

That is what my ancestors did for fun. Along with a little harmless raping and piliging.:D

I'm an insensitive toad with little tolerance for political correctness nor putting up with idiots and even I am bothered by using rape for a joke.

Not grinning.

Rape is a synonym of pillage... It doesn't always mean rape as we use the word in our lexicon... but knowing the history of Vikings.... ;)

I am sure the poster was using it to mean theft of goods...

This is weird -- just two or three days ago on my cruise I heard the Police's "Da Do Do Do" for the first time in years, heard Sting sing "your logic ties me up and rapes me," and imagined that some people must get upset by the lyric because they tend to associate 'rape' with one particular meaning. Funny that I hadn't heard that song in EONS, had a specific thought about that particular lyric, and then come across this on the board.

It's true.. one of the Who's songs on Tommy uses it also (though I can't remember which song!)..

We reported people stealing the salt and pepper shakers from the premium restaurant on the Legend. They had, according to the waitress, asked how much to buy them, and when she told them the price, they took two as they left.

I heard that someone's cabin had been searched the next night. I'm assuming it was theirs.

I guess the Brits are more familiar with the broader meaning of the term. At least their pop songwriters are. :D I would have thought the expression 'raping and pillaging' was fairly well known though, even here in the Colonies.

I've usually heard of it referred to as "pillaging and plundering" at least in the Disney sense of pirates...

I'm sorry that happened to you, that's terrible. Did you report what happened? Even if you could not have proved it, just wondering if a security camera might have picked it up. Knowing the approximate time, likely scenario of how you were pickpocketed & some sort of description of the people involved. From what I hear, casinos are pepppered with surveillance cameras. And even if the act wasn't caught by one of the cameras, I would think Carnival would have an interest in at least being aware of the crime & perhaps keep an eye on this couple.

Here's a casino etiquette question. If you walk by an unattended slot machine with either credits to be played, or coins in the, uh, the thingy where the coins come out (it's early, and I'm only 1/3 the way into my first cup of coffee), what are the rules? Do you alert staff or do you wait and then play after a certain period of time?

I've seen this so many times. I'm assuming the original player was either drunk and oblivious or done playing and not aware they still had credits to play. I have taken out S&S cards and taken them to the cashier or floor supervisor but am curious about unattended machines.

(Should I have brought my popcorn popper?)

I don't know about ships. But in Las Vegas, the casino considers that money to be theirs. And you could get some real grief from them if they see you scarf up the credits. What I don't know is whether the money actually belongs to the casino, or if the casino is compelled to hand it over to a sate agency.

Dear all,

I finished coming back from the Carnival Valor couple weeks ago. And I noticed my neighbor's was no longer on board after the 3rd day. When i asked the cabin steward what happened to them , he let me know that his wife was caught stealing in the Casino and he was caught stealing some where else on board the ship. (Perhaps the gift shop or photo dept , not too sure). Both where up to no good.

The authorities kicked them off the ship at the 1st port of call !

Do you think the ship did the right thing from getting rid of the bad

apples ? I want to hear your opinions .

It's better than going to jail. Shame on them.

Since the casinos write the laws in Nv., I imagine that legally, the money is theirs.
