wyo5250 Posted November 24, 2009 #1 Share Posted November 24, 2009 We booked our 1st Carnival cruise for 3/7/10, and I have no fancy summer clothes for the dress up dinners. We live in Wyoming, so looking at the local stores will be useless (it's all winter stuff from now till Apr/May). I wear about a 16/18 and was just wondering if anyone has some dresses laying around that they need to get rid of? Or if there's any inexpensive online stores that I could take a look at? Thanks for any help you can offer.

cb at sea Posted November 25, 2009 #4 Share Posted November 25, 2009 Have you nothing in your closet that will work? There's really no need to buy a new wardrobe to cruise!!!
wyo5250 Posted November 25, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted November 25, 2009 Yes, actually I dug out one dress today that will work. I seem to only have winter dress up clothes--guess I don't go out enough in the summer months!
Nebr.cruiser Posted November 25, 2009 #6 Share Posted November 25, 2009 We live in Nebr., so our climate's not much different than yours. I have seen plenty of formal/cocktail wear at our mall that would be perfectly suitable for a cruise. LBD, that sort of thing, both long gowns and short. They're even on sale. It doesn't have to be 'summery' for the dress-up nights, just elegant and pretty. Black skirts or slacks and sparkly tops work well too, and have no season. You also might check consignment stores, especially high-end ones.
yogi2929 Posted November 25, 2009 #7 Share Posted November 25, 2009 For the Cruise Elegant nights on Carnival black slacks and a pretty top seem to be the 'uniform' for lots of gals. On board you will see gals wearing everything from the 'uniform' to long gowns and everything inbetween. At night the ship can be cool so a thinner long sleeve top can be an advantage. Andee Posted November 25, 2009 #8 Share Posted November 25, 2009 At the top of the Cruise Fashions and Beauty board, there's a thread titled "recycling clothing among cc members"--you may have some luck there.
sail7seas Posted December 2, 2009 #9 Share Posted December 2, 2009 I agree you probably can find little black dresses in most department stores that work fine four seasons. Not knowing your taste or price range, some suggestions might be Macy's on line, Dillard's, Lord & Taylor, JC Penney. Much on line shopping is free shipping right now. Don't stress too much about it. You can probably find lots of choices on line.
okwriter Posted December 3, 2009 #10 Share Posted December 3, 2009 Penneys online has a "little black dress" section. Go to the jcpenney.com, then to the Women's area. Click on Dresses, and you'll see the Little Black Dresses link. They are $50 on up.
